Another night getting drunk at the Hanged Man tavern, another prowling gang of idiot thugs taught a bloody lesson, another night losing at Diamondback or Wicked Grace with a braggart of a dwarf and a shameless pirate wench...

This is not the Hanged Man.Without a moment's pause, a muted *crack* like far-off thunder makes the stranger's body run ( Read more... )

"Excuse me sir," says a completely normal girl in outlandish clothing...well she is floating a few feet off the ground so she can't be that normal, "it's not polite to wave around a sword like that. Someone could get hurt."

Floating off the ground? He swings to face her, ready to spring.

"Stand your ground, mage, and do not try me!" he calls out. "You are but flesh and blood and sweat when death comes for you!"

Wait, what?

"Umm, I don't do magic and why are you being so mean?"

He laughs mirthlessly. "You say that and yet your feet don't touch the ground. You are mage or demon, and if you attack, you will die."

Slowly it dawns on Julie that she dealing with someone who may not know exactly where they are. As such she lands to try and help calm matters and says, "It's okay, I'm a super hero and I won't attack you. Well maybe if you tried to hurt someone...Anyway, you aren't where you expected to be huh?"

Her voice has turned sympathetic as she remembers how confused she was when she first came here.

"This is indeed not where I expect to be!" he growls... but then stops. "You are a child, a human child," he says, as if this is the first time he's noticed. He sheathes his sword in the long sheath on his back, and then takes a deep breath and groans in pain as the blue glow on his body dissipates, leaving behind silvery swirls like solid mercury all over his skin.

"If you harm me, child, I will not hesitate to hurt you," he cautions, "but I will take your word. For now."

"Okay, I promise I won't unless you try to hurt someone. There's also folks here who will stop you if you try to hurt someone, even if they started it. They even have a god helping them. Wait a minute, I'm doing this all wrong," she says when she realizes she babbling nervously. "Okay, I'll stay right here and not move. Do you see the door you came in?"

"Yes," he says.

Julei visibly relaxes and then reached for her mask. Taking it off to hopefully make this easier and more believable for the...elf?...she says, "Okay good. Thru that door is your world. Here is another. I don't really understand it but everyone here seems friendly and before you ask, I didn't kidnap you or anything. Whoever runs this place did and I don't know who that is."

She may be relaxed but she's still tense enough to react should anything turn sour. "My name's Julie."

Yes, elf. Now that he's not glowing and growling, his features are more easily made out. He is olive-skinned with grey-green eyes and large pointed ears. His hair is pure white but his eyebrows are deep black. He wears a metal breastplate and armor that is mostly made of leather spikes, over skin tight leggings. His feet are bare.

Fenris nods politely. "Serah Julie, I am Fenris. So, you say I may freely go back to Kirkwall when I wish? Then I shall stay a while," he announces, "and explore this place."

"Just Julie," she replies with a beaming smile (she managed a first contact without a fight!). "I have a friend named Sarah Jane but I'm just Julie. I should also warn you there are three rules. No violence in the Bar, I kind of mentioned that one, no nudity (she blushes a bit at this one) and no outside business. I'm not really sure what that last one means. I think it means if your worst enemy comes here no fighting while you're inside the bar. If you break these rules Security will lock you up for a day or so. There's also a lake and stables and a whole lotta neat stuf outback.

"Oh and the Bar itself is magical and if no one's there you can still order drinks. They'll just appear out of nothing." Julie is clearly impressed with this last.

Fenris scowls at the mention of magic, but decides to ignore it. He nods once again and says, "Very well then, Just Julie. I can not promise not to defend myself if attacked, but I shall endeavor to remain within the law."

[ooc: gotta go. thanks for the thread!]
