"What's up?" Guppy asks gently, sitting next to Will.

[will_scarlett]

"Some days ye canna do 'nough without turnin' into those ye 'ate."

Guppy squeezes Will's shoulder.

"What happened?"

"Couldna get someone out o'a bad place cause couldna save 'is family."

[guppy_sandhu]

"I'm sorry." Guppy says gently. "Sometimes you can't save everyone, and I know that hurts."

"Aye, I know, still dinna like it," He takes a sip of his whiskey.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Me neither." Guppy says, squeezing Will's shoulder. "Is it something we could help with? Send a party back with you?"

"Nay, it isna. We did all we could an wasna 'nough."

[guppy_sandhu]

"You do a good job. Are things particularly bad now?"

"Na worse than 'fore."

[guppy_sandhu]

Guppy nods.

"Well, it's probably not much use to take your mind off it tonight, but I've got an invitation for you for Coral's first birthday party in a few days, if you'd like to come."

"Thank ye, I'd like that. 'ow are she an Fry doin'?"

[guppy_sandhu]

"They're doing well thanks. We're just trying to prepare Fry for school - he's met some of the other children that'll be in his class now, and one of the other parents volunteered their child to be a buddy for him."

[will_scarlett]

"That sounds a fair idea."

[guppy_sandhu]

"Yeah, we're just hoping they don't fall out before the start of term."
