Here's one guy who won't be going anywhere tomorrow. Not anywhere he doesn't plan to, anyway.

Oh, except for this place.

He stops at the Door, rolling his eyes in a way that suggests he really isn't feeling very rapturous at all. Then stomps over to the Bar and growls for a bourbon.

It's not helping.

Sam remembers that look and is getting a refill for his own spiced wine,

"Bad day?"

"Any day in here is a bad day."

Zed squints at Sameth. "Have we met?"

[makesthings]

"I think so. You and your friend had an amazing device that was a phone and other things."

[bring_a_sponge]

"Oh, that's right. Got it."

"Sameth, wasn't it?" He pats his own chest. "Zed."

"You had a knack for that tech."

Which is probably why Sameth just got what passes with Zed for a polite introduction.

"Yes, thanks, I'm good at making things,"

Sam smiles as he's always amazed when anyone compliments his work.

[bring_a_sponge]

"Good. Keep it up," Zed rumbles.

"What're working on these days?"

[makesthings]

"A few different things, a sword, trying out some ideas in cloth and the normal horseshoes and arrowheads."

[bring_a_sponge]

"Cloth?" Zed asks. "What kind of ideas?"

He'll get to the sword in a minute.

[makesthings]

"Apparently there's a world where there's magic in cloaks that makes them disappear. So I'm going to see how those work but also just how things are constructed. I should ask Kait if I can take apart one of her corsets."

[bring_a_sponge]

"Disappearing cloaks, huh? That could be handy."

Zed is thoughtful. That's probably not good.

"Yes, its an elven magic I think. Aegnor knows the spell."

[bring_a_sponge]

"Might not work on my world then. Have to run a few tests, see what happens."

"You have any luck bringing magic from other worlds back into yours?"

[makesthings]

"I'm not sure if it'll work here either since Aegnor didn't have one with him. No, I've yet to try that. Though I do know that the magic of my world doesn't always work as it should in others."

[bring_a_sponge]

Zed nods. "We've run into anomalies when moving tech from one dimension to another. Pretty much the same problem."

"Never any way to predict what'll happen. Just have to try it, and hope the damn thing you're testing doesn't blow up in your face."

"Milliways seems strange since it has so many kinds of things that all work."

[bring_a_sponge]

"Breaks every damn rule in the multiverse," Zed agrees.

"Guess I should be glad any magic works in our dimension at all. Not that much of it has. But any is better than none. So long as we're the only ones who have it."
