Dr. John Watson sits at the bar with a lager he has sipped quite a bit and a book he hasn't opened yet.

He's too busy enjoying the relative peace of the bar.

Elrond has been walking outside and is feeling calm and well-rested. Now, he just wants to sit down with a glass of wine and stretch time a little, before he returns to his duties on the other side of the door.

He fetches a glass from the Bar and looks around for a place to sit.

The sweeping robes and the circlet might look like a costume from a distance, but up close it cannot be mistaken for anything but real clothes.

sure, though I suspect I'm asleep when you're online seesomemore May 1 2011, 22:25:27 UTC
The seat next to John is open. The man himself is nowhere near so grand as the new patron--he's rumpled and ordinary-looking and very much occupied with enjoying his lager.

Elrond spots the seat and walks over to the table. "Is this taken?" he asks politely, indicating the free seat with a small movement of his left hand.

His voice is deep and pleasant and he sounds almost, but not quite, British.

"Not at all," says John, and then looks at him.

Most of the people he's met here are at least ostensibly human.

"Er."

He is getting used to this reaction. Elrond puts his glass down and then sits down himself, with the careless grace of someone who often walks around in floorlength, embroidered clothing.

"Your world does not have many elves, I take it?" he says, looking over at the Man with a small smile.

Up close, the ears are visible, if not overly prominent. His eyes, on the other hand, are bright as stars.

"We're rather short on them," says John, still fascinated. "Except at Christmastime."

"Christmastime?" Elrond asks. Genuinely curious.

"Ah, a holiday season in wintertime. Elves are part of the story."

"Midwinter, perhaps?" Elrond suggests. "Most elves are rather fond of Midwinter. Though I take it, that th eleves you know are creatures of legend and not beings with whom you have intercourse."

In the purely non-sexual fashion. Of course.

That's not where John's mind goes, but he manages not to smirk.

"It's right after winter solstice.

"I've never met an elf. Before today."

"That seems a very fitting time to have a celebration," Elrond replies pleasantly. And then he smiles a little. "I shall hope I live up to the expectations then. I am afraid that creatures of legend are often disappointingly mundane when you meet them in the flesh."

"Considering all I know about elves is that they sing and help Father Christmas, you could only surpass my expectations."

And fade :) Thanks for indulging me starrydome May 2 2011, 05:21:40 UTC
Elrond raises his glass just a little. "Song and helpfulness should be doable so I believe you are right on that account."

And with that he settles in to enjoy his wine.
