It doesn't take Claudia long to say, "All right, I'm game. How 'every flavor' are we talking?"

"Well, I'm nothing if not up for an adventure." And really, a handful of jelly beans is hardly the worst thing she could get herself into. (Currently, that's tied between 'kidnap a federal agent' and 'get magnetized to the ceiling.' ...Wait.)

"Not bad. It's been quiet at home, which is all well and good except it's past 'well, that's nice' and into 'waiting for the other shoe to drop' territory now."
And in her line of work, there are a lot of other shoes that could drop.
"Okay," she says to the bowl. "Avoid the green ones, they're not ripe yet, and if this is really any flavor, brown's proooobably not a good idea either. So."
Purple should be safe enough, she thinks (it's a really deep purple, but that's okay). Then she goes for pink, light blue, red, and...
Okay, so the last one's green after all, but it had these orangey flecks to it. She couldn't resist.

They can be fabulously misleading, sometimes, Bertie Bott's.

"Okay, really, what's the point of toothpaste-flavored candy if it doesn't get you out of brushing your teeth?"
