"You know 'Poisoning Pigeons in the Park'?" Knox grew up with Lehrer on TV, on That Was the Week That Was.

Artie grins and starts playing a familiar tune.

"Spring is here, spring is here,
Life is skittles and life is beer.
I think the loveliest time of the year is the spring.
I do, don't you? 'Course you do..."

As Tom Lehrer impressions go, it's not bad (mainly because Lehrer can't really sing). Knox joins in softly on the chorus. Getting the words wrong.

Artie's singing voice isn't great, but it isn't bad either; he was classically trained, once upon a time.

"When they see us coming, the birdies all try and hide,
But they still go for peanuts when coated with cyanide..."

Soon Knox is laughing. It's been ages since he heard that. And a while since he laughed in here.

"So if Sunday you're free, why don't you come with me
And we'll poison the pigeons in the park.
And maybe we'll do in a squirrel or two
While we poison the pigeons in the park..."

At song's end Knox offers just a little applause.

"Thanks. I needed that."

"Yeah, me too," admits Artie. "Maybe Leena's right about that whole 'take a minute to breathe' thing."

"I'm usually good at that. Or was before my lady went back home. Bar's been a little less relaxing." Almost suffocating, in fact.

"Long-distance relationship? Yeah, that's always tricky..."

[gotham_knocking]

"Very long distance. Like, between timelines and years." He really misses her, as usual.

Artie quirks an eyebrow. "Really."

[gotham_knocking]

"Just your typical Milliways relationship, I guess." Sooner or later, everyone goes back to where they come from, right?

[doyousmellfudge]

"I wasn't aware there was a 'typical' anything, in this place."

[gotham_knocking]

"Well, typical in the sense that everyone comes from someplace else, and had to go back there. And sometimes never comes back." Like Rachel. Like Allie.

But not like Raps. He knows she will come home to him. Somehow.

"Yeah, well..." Artie trails off, not sure what to say. He's just about the last person in the world you'd come to for relationship advice.
