Wellard is really, really trying not to be amused. For one, he knows how he would have felt at Tyler's age, being caught in that situation. And, of course- this sort of thing happening isn't exactly safe.
However-
He muffles a cough, and heads over to the tree from the path.
There's some more wriggling and grunting trying to get at least one of his hands free to undo the knots...but that just makes him swing and spin back and forth.
"You may want to stop moving, at least for the moment." Wellard starts climbing the ladder up to the tree fort. "While it may loosen the knots, its possible it may tighten them as well."
Thankfully, in spite of everything that happened to Wellard on board the Renown, he has an excellent head for heights. A few moments later, he is on the tree branch, eying the knot of rope as well as the hanging Tyler.
"...I think the knots around my ankles are tightening anyways..." Tyler replies, though he does start to hold still.
And Wellard may not have seen so many well-done knots before, or at least none as odd as these. Give a 10 year old enough rope and creativity and he'll do some odd things.
Right, then. Wellard scoots forwards on the branch, locks his legs around it, and grabs the rope attached to Tyler's ankles to start hauling the younger boy up.
"At least if I do drop you, you're not liable to fall and hit your head. Wish I could say I had that same safety line when something similar happened to me, but..." Wryly.
"At least-" And he grabs at the ropes wrapped around Tyler for a better handhold-
".....could you NOT taunt Murphy's law?" Tyler yelps as he starts getting pulled up, a little surprised, and now scanning the forest floor for demon bunnies.
...Tyler is not moving and not arguing with that logic. He would really rather not have to be sent to the infirmary here for head injuries.
It would really rather ruin his spotless record of having to come to the nurses or doctors here for injuries. Then again, Dr. Newby DID have that card he'd get stamps on, each time he'd come in and been a good patient.
"... If you would take some advice, I would think a tree branch a few yards above the ground may not be the best place for such practice. The ground may be safer. And considering the demon rabbits, closer to the bar may be a good idea as well."
Just a thought.
"I think I have a book on knots, if you'd care to look at it. Anyone tying you up would probably do it properly. This here-" He motions to the knot around Tyler's wrists- "Looks like an unholy combination of a sheet bend and hangman's noose."
A shake of his head, and Wellard finally starts pulling that knot loose.
However-
He muffles a cough, and heads over to the tree from the path.
"Are you alright?"

"...or not okay."

"I don't think I can get through these before all the blood rushes to your head. I'll see if I can get you back up here, first?"

And that may be Tyler already getting that lovely rush of blood to his head and feeling vaguely dizzy.

They WOULD show up for a nice tasty meat pinata.

"... right." Muttered, and he works on hauling Tyler up faster.
"Though you should be glad those little buggers don't climb trees."

Good news, he's on the tree branch. Bad news, he's a little freaked at having taunted chance, and he's still bound hand and foot.

With his legs still locked around the tree branch- for these knots, he's going to need both hands- Wellard carefully manuevers Tyler around.
"Again, try not to move. I'm going to see about undoing these, and if you fall off the branch this time, you may just land on your head."

He pulls out a pocket knife, complete with a marlin spike and sets to work on the knots on Tyler's hands. "So, how exactly did you get into this?"
Talking shouldn't involve too much movement.

"I was practicing escaping from being tied up in knots...and I kind of fell off."

Which...ah. Has sort of been defeated out here, if Tyler had any dignity left...well. If he had any left, it's gone now.
"...you think I could study that book when we go inside?"
