It's probably fair to say that Dinah did not want to bartend today, but when you get that napkin, you get that napkin. And fortunately, she gets enough warning to get changed before coming back out to tend. With the wig on, she can get on with being Black Canary, and her personal issues won't be too much of an issue.

Huh.

"... that last one really describes a great number of blokes I know at my school," says James, peering thoughtfully at the specials board.

[raptorcanaria]

"You go to school with a lot of green people?" Dinah asks, deciding to take that as an order.

"Is it on Earth?"

[alotofgood]

"Yeah. It's on Earth."

James laughs.

"And it's more metaphorical, really," he explains. "Their official colours are green and silver."

[raptorcanaria]

"Oh, like team colours?" Dinah guesses.

[alotofgood]

James nods.

"Yeah - basically. We've got four Houses, and Slytherin's green and silver."

He gestures to his own school-tie.

"Gryffindor, the house I'm from, is red and gold."

[raptorcanaria]

"See, I knew Britain had school uniforms," she says conversationally. "I didnt know you had different uniforms in the same school. Lots of house rivalry?"

"Yeah ... something like that."

He snorts.

"Let's just say Gryffindor and Slytherin have got very obvious opposing views on a lot of things. The other two houses are sort of on middle ground."

[raptorcanaria]

"You make them sound like political parties."

Rather than just houses within a school.

[alotofgood]

"I suppose that was my rubbish attempt at being politically correct," he says, shrugging.

"Honestly, I haven't met a Slytherin anyone can count on yet. They're not exactly known for things like ... loyalty and friendship and being decent."

It's hard to take him seriously. She's sure it's very serious and heavy when you're a school kid (And Dinah's only a few years out of high school, she should remember), but dismissing a quarter of his own school like that...

...Dinah makes a note never to send her children to school in Britain.

"But the other houses aren't so bad?"

[alotofgood]

Well, if she knew the sorts of things that lot get up to, it might seem a little more serious.

"Yeah. Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff are brilliant."

Obviously not as brilliant as Gryffindor, but ... James has got a lot of pride for his own house.

Give her ten years and she may even see a movie or two.

Or, y'know, not.

She grins, anyway.

"So can I get you a drink? I had poured you a shot, but I'm going to need to see ID."

...says the woman who won't be twenty one for six months.

That gets James to blink a bit confusedly.

"... ID? What's that? Like - stating my name or something?"

[raptorcanaria]

"How old are you?" Dinah asks. "And can you prove it?"

[alotofgood]

"Oh. Well, I'm sixteen."

As for how he can prove it ...

"Er. And I suppose you could - actually, I haven't really got any way of proving it. But we haven't got any restrictions on drinking back home."

Not that he can prove that either.

[raptorcanaria]

Dinah gives him a frowny-y thoughtful look.

"You know what? I'm not giving you any more alcohol. Sorry."

But he can have that shot, if he wants! "What else can I get you?"
