Out back, there has been a temporary covered notice board erected. On that notice board are two large pieces of paper. One is a large building plan, and the other is a poster.

William's been looking for Guppy and he gets a note at Bar telling him to go outside and he stares at the construction before saying,

"Hello? Doctor Sandhu?"

"Hi William." Guppy comes out under the tape. "How are you doing? You can call me Guppy by the way, if you want."

"Guppy, I'll try and remember that. I scanned my brother and started him on the medicine,"

He pulls the scanner from his pocket, its still reading what it did when it went over Mark.

"Thanks." Guppy takes the scanner back, looks at it and nods grimly.

"Looks like it is tuberculosis. How is he?"

"Ain't seen any difference yet? Will they start workin' soon?"

"How long has he been taking them?" Guppy asks.

"About three days now."

"It'll take longer than that, it's a very long course." Guppy says. "Months even. He should start to feel a bit better relatively soon, but it takes a long time to go away completely."

"Right, good, long as it works that's what I hope for. What are you workin' on?"

"William... tuberculosis is a serious illness and he's had it for a long time. What I've given you for him is the best possible treatment we have, and his chances are good. But I would be lying if I said they were a hundred percent. I'm sorry to be grim but it's important you know that."

He gestures to the building site.

"We're building a day room for patients to recouperate in. A bit like a lounge we can observe people in."

"I know and I'm just glad he's got more of a hope than he did before,"

He won't ever stop worrying until the day Mark never coughs again.

"Keep me posted." Guppy says. "If he takes them for several weeks and isn't getting better, or gets worse, there may be other antibiotics we can try. But the ones I gave you should work because the medicines don't exist in your world yet, so the disease shouldn't have had the chance to get resistant to them."

"Several weeks, I'll try and leave you notes if things start changin' if I don't see you,"

That will help William to feel that he's doing something more than just waiting.

"Okay. I'm in fairly regularly but if you don't hear back from me then contact one of the other infirmary staff. There's always a chance I've got locked out."

"I will. Thank you. I think I'm goin' to see if anythin' needs doin' in the stables."

"Okay, take care." Guppy says, nipping back under the tape.
