"Oh, right. You were feeling a bit under the last time we spoke, weren't you?"
He peers at Sameth carefully, appraising, before his gaze is turned to the broom. He shrugs, as best he can in reclining position.
"I was trying to modify the flying charm on it. Didn't quite go as well as I hoped."
He frowns, only briefly, and then flops back against the table with a content sigh. The bottle is offered, dangled by the gloved fingers in Sameth's general direction.
He's not being much help with the explaining at first. He has to take another sip of firewhiskey.
"Mostly. I mean, when you're flying you can the angle broom a certain way to speed up, but they can only go so fast. All brooms have their limits. I was attempting to modify the broom to increase the threshold."
He sighs as he rubs at his brow, starting to feel the heat of far too many layers and the fire in his throat and belly from the drink.
"Anyway. It's not just the one charm you have to think about, you've got others. The braking charm, for instance, and even the hover charm to work about."
"I've it in the dorm. I can leave it for you with Bar the next time, if I remember he says," Scorpius says, frowning and giving the broom a nudge with his foot.
The high-pitched whine descends to a soft hum before silencing completely.
"I think that was the anti-theft charm I'd put on it malfunctioning."
He was vaguely aware of something going on outside and grins when he spots Scorpius,
"Hello."

"The limits of these old ones aren't all that great."

Even more so after a drink or two. Though, Scorpius had waited until he was done with his experimenting to start on the Ogden's.
"You're very likely to hear about accidents every now and then. They've got a floor devoted to spell damage in St. Mungo's."
