Jack's standing outside, huddled into his coat against the chill, but enjoying the silence after the noise of the bar and the full-on holiday cheer of his world.
Of course, being a California boy, he has no idea that the snow he's standing in is the perfect consistency for snowball-packing snow.

She may call out before launching one in his direction, but she doesn't throw it hard, and her aim isn't perfected yet - if anything, it'll barely wing the sleeve of his coat.

Spinning around, he just catches the puff of snow as the snowball lands in a drift, quickly adding it up with the expression on Beckett's face.
"You sure you want to go there?" Jack asks with a slightly bemused look on his face.

She only succeeds at one of those.
Care to take a guess as to which?
(The snowball currently being lobbed at Jack may answer the question for him.)

"I'd hope it wasn't, otherwise your best is pretty pathetic," Jack says, pressing the snow in his hands together once, then throwing. The snowball disintegrates in mid-air.

"Didn't anyone ever teach you how to pack a snowball, Bauer?" she asks, with a corresponding tilt of her head. "Oh, that's right - you're a California boy."
She sidesteps a little, scooping up more snow as she goes.

At least close enough that she's his snowball won't fall apart before it hits her.

"Yeah, and I could probably throw you a lot farther. Like say headfirst into that snowdrift over there."
He scoops up another handful of snow, this time pressing and turning it a couple times before throwing. It still falls apart, but it gets a lot closer to her than the last one.

His comment earns him a look.
"That's playing dirty, Jack. I expected more from you."

He's often played dirty if it meant winning in the end. Of course in those cases there was usually more at stake than a snowball fight.
Scooping up another handful of snow, he packs it, then lobs it at her.

Quickly, she scoops up enough to make another snowball, but her next throw is weak. She's laughing too hard.

From here, she can ready a few sources of snow ammo.

This time when he lets a snowball fly, it hits the tree she's hiding behind. Of course that's mainly because Jack's approached her while talking so he didn't really have to throw it that far.

She can hear his voice coming a little louder now, which means he's closer, but she has to chance choosing which direction he'll take around the tree before throwing her next snowball.
Only time will tell if she chose right.

Now that he's getting better at making snowballs, his instincts have started to kick in.
