Bruce is not as lame as his mun and so has, in fact, been in the bar a few times recently. So he knows it's Christmas here and that's why he's got a bag with him this evening, in case he happens to run into someone. And if he doesn't, it's still a nice chance to relax with a protein shake and watch the universe implode.

Dinah comes into the bar with a usual glance-around-the-place to see who she sees.

She sees Bruce, and holds up a finger. Wait.

Then she disappears.

Two minutes later she reappears, with a leather document folder under her arm.

Bruce quirks his eyebrows at her but she's already gone.

And then she's back.

'Hi?'

"Hi!" Dinah says cheerfully as she sits at his table, the folder underneath her arms.

"How's it going?"

He eyes it for a moment, that folder, but figures she'll tell him if she wants to.

'Pretty good, thanks. How about you?'

"Not bad," says Dinah. "Got to hang out with Superman."

Who, come to think of it, he might not even know. Time to change the subject with the folder!

"These are for you."

They're geological and seismic surveys of the Gotham area. "Happy Milli-Christmas."

He looks rather amused as he takes the folder, which turns to puzzlement as he looks over the surveys.

'Uhh...thanks?'

Beat.

'I take it there's a reason?'

"Yeah."

Of course there's a reason. Dinah leans over the table to point out the fault line - she's got pretty good about reading the maps in the weeks she's been sitting on them.

"My Bruce Wayne already knows, and your Gotham might be different from my Gotham, but that's a faultline, running right through the city.

"Ten years in my future, an earthquake's going to level the city, unless someone with a lot of property and a lot of power in the right circles, makes sure the buildings are proofed."

His eyebrows raise again but slowly this time, as if the ramifications are seeping in as he looks at the line.

'Hmm.'

He doesn't know anything about a fault line under Gotham. But then, it's not something he's ever had to think about before.

'It'll level it completely? How do you know?'

A tiny, traitorous part of his mind thinks that it'd definitely solve the crime problem, but for only for a few milliseconds before the horrific notion of several million innocent dead people sets in.

"Someone from my future told me," Dinah says, leaning back from the plans so he can look over them as much as he wants.

"Huntress, here in the Bar. I don't think she knows who you are, but I do know she's living in a devastated city even the Government won't help out."

He sits back too, after a few moments more.

'But if you've told your version of me about it and it still happened, does that mean the proofing failed?'

He finds it hard to believe any version of himself would just ignore the warning. Unless something seriously drastic happens to change him in ways he doesn't want to think about.

Dinah gives him a small frown - the kind of expression an optimist gives a pessimist who insists on messing with their hope.

"Or perhaps it means that if I hadn't told you, the devastation would be even greater. Or maybe Huntress isn't from the exact timeline and what happened to her Gotham won't happen to mine because somebody did something. That fault line is there whether we talk about it or not.

"And I'd rather try and fail than not try at all."

This is an understatement. Dinah can't not try.

Well, that's something he can't argue with anyway. So he nods and his eyes drop back down to the surveys. He can hardly conceive of a world without Gotham.

'I'll look into it. I'm pretty sure your version of the city is very different to mine and if I recall, you're a good twenty years behind me. But that doesn't mean there still can't be similarities.'

And really, it would be just Gotham's luck to share this one.

'So, thanks. I'll get some geologists on it.' There's a dry smile. 'If I can get anyone in my company to listen to me, of course.'

Dinah smirks with a helpless shrug. "Our timelines are totally messed up, but it's worth a look. Anyway, if they'll listen to anyone they'll listen to you."

Change of subject! This is depressing. "How are things at home?"

He privately doubts that, at the moment. But it'll change.

'Maybe.'

A change of subject is welcome though. He's not going to dwell on gruesome possibilities until he has some facts. If there's no fault line then there should be no problem. And if there is, he'll deal with it.

So he nods, looking thoughtful.

'They're not bad. Working on things. Being nagged by Alfred - do you know Alfred? - in his way.'

"I met him," Dinah says, with a nod. "The Butler, right? He kept offering me tea."

Bruce snorts.

'If you believe he's just a butler...'

And then shuts up. Because hey, it may be different elsewhere.

'In my world, he was my appointed guardian. And also the reason I didn't lose everything when the company declared me dead.'

Anyway.

'How are things with you?'
