Ed has been watching Father Christmas from under a nearby table for some time now. She's not sure what to make of him.

Father Christmas waves at her.

Ed, discovered, clambers out from under the table. "Ed has a question."

[father_chris]

"Who's Ed?" Father Christmas asks.

[shoeless_ed]

Ed points to herself. "Ed is Ed."

[father_chris]

"Ah, hello Ed. What's your question?"

[shoeless_ed]

"Are you Santa Claus? Really really Santa Claus?"

[father_chris]

"Yes, I am really Father Christmas. One of them, anyway."

[shoeless_ed]

Ed beams. "Yay!" she exclaims, twirling around. "Ed has never gotten a present from Santa before! Any Santa!"

[father_chris]

"I'm sorry about that." Father Christmas says. "There isn't one everywhere. What would you like?"

[shoeless_ed]

"Ed wants a Z-3500 wireless broadcaster/receiver with military-grade hardware-accelerated encryption capability!" she chirps.

[father_chris]

"...I'm afraid that might be a bit expensive for a present. We have to budget for all the other little boys and girls."

[shoeless_ed]

Ed looks disappointed. "Oh. Ed will have to pick another present, then."

[father_chris]

"Yes, sorry about that." Father Christmas says.

He's still not sure what gender Ed is.

[shoeless_ed]

Yeah, that happens.

"Ummmmm....." Ed taps her foot thoughtfully. "Ed still wants a present, but she can't think what to get." Bar lets her borrow toys, if she wants them - and that's perfectly adequate, since she doesn't want stuff.

"What about a walkie talkie set?"
