He wasn't planning for this.

It's probably obvious by the trays with unbaked cookies on them.
You'd think Milliways would have stuck to stealing him during the day.

After she's done freaking out, she notices the young man with the tray.

And stares. What is a guy holding a tray of unbaked cookies doing in a bar?

Peeta, looking town between being simply exhausted and exasperated, is starting to put them down on the bar not too from one of the kitchen doors. He'd already had a hard enough night with pretty nonexistent sleep.

Hmmm. He might not notice a few cookies going missing. The poor thing looks so tired.

Oh god, you aren't thinking of stealing them, are you? They are unbaked!

She approaches the bar, and Peeta specifically. "Where are you taking those cookies?"

"I was taking them to be fired," he's speaking without looking up as he's fixing one with dough twists and curls. "But instead of my kitchen I ended up here."

Milliways can be kind of weird sometimes, as the girl in the blue and gold jumpsuit (she changed out of her armor) could tell you. "Uh-oh," she says. "Do you need a hand with those?"

It's been a rather odd day in her world. She figures she's entitled to wait at Milliways a bit before heading home.

"Wouldn't turn one down."

He can balance them on the balls of his hands, waiting for it, and not worry about his own actual balance with his replacement leg in a completely different place, with different traction.

At least there is the shoe, and he actually put back on his shirt, even if he's far more informally dressed than most people will ever see him.

There some humor in. "This definitely isn't my kitchen."

Ellen scrambles over to take the trays off his hands, or at least one of them. "Okay," she says, "um.... I don't know if they'll let you use the ovens here, but- here."

There's a table near enough nearby to use.

"No, it's not. I'm guessing you didn't mean to come here today? Have you been here before?"

"Thanks. And, yeah." He's getting used to the question even. He doesn't even sound all that put out, even if there's a faint limp following and then he slid his tray down next to hers. "Third time. I'm Peeta."

Beat.

"I don't usually come in with cookies."
If he did, they'd be baked already.
