Not Desire's First Entry Post.

It's been a long time since Desire set foot properly in the bar: Certainly more than a year, though a few that knew this particular Endless have probably still seen Desire around -- and if anything, Desire looks a little out of sorts ( Read more... )

Ray had been out patrolling, thinking about how he really did not want to be a superhero full time anymore. He had a job these days with the group Uncle Sam had put together, but... well... he'd rather be a computer programmer.

And tonight, when he managed to follow some thugs through a random alley door in Washington DC, he really had to wonder if maybe it was time to retire, for his own health! His costume vanished in a flare of light, leaving Ray in civies, and wondering at his sanity.

What was a bar, with a space observer window, doing in DC? And how?

His eyes fixed on one figure, a woman, and moved toward her. "'Scuse me, miss? What is this place?"

Oh oh. It's a newbie.
How long has it been since Desire handled one of these?

... Considerably longer than Desire can remember. She offers Ray a big, shiny grin -- the kind that no good comes from, ever.

"Ray Terrill! As I live and breathe. Welcome to Milliways -- the bar at the end of the universe!"

As if that weren't overwhelming enough, Desire swoops to his side and links her arm with his, gesturing expansively to the rules written above the bar with the cigarette-holding hand. "There are a few simple rules to remember while you're here: No fighting inside -- that's why we have out the back door. No business or powers in the bar. Don't go naked in public, no sex in the bar -- and always respect your Barman."

Ray blinked at being named, and recognized, and flailed a little, that one arm that's free, wheeling as he's scooped to her side. The rules made sense and were filed somewhere while he tried to deal with the very real and very intense presence squished against him. He squeezed his eyes closed, then opened them.

"Ah, hello? How did you know my name? Who are you, miss? And... Milliways? Which Universe?"

He barely refrained from asking any more questions as he stared at this beautiful stranger.

Desire responded to Ray's fluster by patting his arm consolingly, her grin's wattage still a rival to the supernova outside the observation window. "Desire. Of the Endless, but that's hardly the important information right now -- Although that would answer your first question. And as to which universe, well. All of them."

That certainly is a familiar face, though not one Lucifer has seen in this particular establishment before.

He smirks (Almost. If you squint, you can sort of see the corner's of his mouth twitching. A bit.) and approaches Desire. "Might I trouble you for a smoke?"

Not that he doesn't have his own, of course, but it's how things are done, you see. Protocol picked up from his thus far brief time in the human world.

Oh, Desire is familiar with the Morningstar: The demonic red bunnies outside were his -- well, another him, but still very much his -- creation, though still more than a little Desire's fault.

Which is probably why Desire treats Lucifer with a bit of careful deference, offering him a nod and a small smile. "Lucifer. It's no trouble at all."

Desire's cigarette case falls open again, full as ever.

He takes one carefully, movements slow and certain as he brings it up to his lips. He doesn't ask for Desire's lighter, nor does he use one of his own, simply inhales and the tip glows orange.

"Thank you," he says after his first slow drag. "I presume we can forego the nonsense about me being in your debt to the tune of one cigarette? I understand business of that sort is frowned upon here."

Desire smirks, no hiding about it. "If you're concerned, you can have another -- and buy me a drink to call it square?"

What? Desire likes to push a little.
... A very little, sometimes, but it's still in Desire's nature to want more.

There's a girl over there.

That one. In the booth. The girl in the red uniform. The one who'll be looking in the right direction any second now.

Desire might just know her.

[OOC: Eeee wei! :D :D :D]

Technically, Desire knows everyone -- but Desire does remember meeting her in person, once or twice.

Desire grins more than a little, and begins sauntering over to where Sariel's sitting.

Once or twice, yes, some time ago. Sariel hasn't changed much at all, if it helps. Then again, Desire does know everyone anyway.

It's a perfectly normal glance up and around that catches the Endless moving in her direction. Blink. Blink again.

Sonya-someone else-golden irises-someone else-Sonya. Someone else. And flicker. And not even that.

"Desire?"

It's a guess, if an educated one. No wonder it's cautious.

"Sariel Rager," Desire says in return, confirming her suspicions -- and if her voice has a little more Creole twang than Sariel last remembered, what of it? Memories aren't always perfect. "It's been a long time."

Desire makes a small gesture toward a nearby open chair. "Care for a drink and come company, cher?"

Owen's eyeing her, casually, from a stool by the Bar.

She has to be the fittest woman he's ever seen.

She doesn't appear to notice the appraisal -- not outwardly, anyway, not from any of the non-signals she's throwing.... Not that it stops her from sliding her way up to the next stool, perching on it, and ordering three fingers of whiskey, neat.

She pushes it Owen's way, and gives him a sideways glance that's pure mischief.

Oh, she's good.

He meets her eyes, vaguely amused tinged with interest, and raises the glass in her direction.

"Good choice."

Desire grins, accepting the thanks with a raise of her chin and a wink. "Cheers. I'm usually pretty good at knowing what people want."

She pauses a moment -- and at this point, a woman at another bar might flirt and get handsy, or ask if he was going to buy her a drink, or offer her name: She doesn't do any of the above. She merely tilts her head, gives Owen a once-over, and then turns to vacate the barstool.

And it's been nice and quiet that way, hasn't it? -- Doesn't look like it's going to stay that way, though.

It has to be an unwritten Rule in the bar by now: Desire must flirt with the Head Barman when dropping in. (Though check the fourth crumpled napkin on the left... It might be written there.)

And that's why Mike suddenly has a golden-eyes Endless smirking cheekily at him, easing into the nearest open stool. "Mike."

"... Have to say, you're looking good for a new father."

"Hello yourself," Desire says, winking mischeviously. "Sounds like you've got a little something in your throat, there."

One pale hand drops a few neat stacks of gold coins on the bar directly in front of Mike: Hard to say if they're Galleons, krugerrands, dubloons or some mix of the three, but there's enough to cover the tab that Desire's left unpaid this long.

(Bet Mike's really glad he didn't have to try and jail an Endless for not paying the tab.)

"So tell me, Mike -- May I buy you a drink?"
