[OOM: Earlier today, What's Potter got to do with anything? The door opens, a girl leans into the room, only her head and shoulders across the threshold, wand at the ready in her left hand

Oddly, that makes more sense then there being a giant pub between her bedroom and the common room that she has just managed to not see for four and a half years.
If she sounds a little like a cruise director mainlining sunshine? We'll chalk that up to a combination of working with tourists, and Parker just being Parker.
Parker, Lily goes to a school with staircases that lead somewhere different on a Friday and doors that are not really doors at all, but just solid walls pretending.
She can deal with architecture that doesn't make physical or logical sense.
"Like, I come from Texas in the year 2010. But my best friend here is from the 1980s. And my other best friend is from a world that has a big mutant population. And another good friend of mine is the Queen of a sort of fairy tale kingdom."
Milliways gets all kinds. And that means ALL kinds.
"Well, it's not a hard and fast rule, but folks seem to find it helpful."
There are such a variety of people here, it helps to have a little information to go on.
"From a practical standpoint? To eat, drink, be merry. Socialize. Some people even have jobs here. But if you mean from a philosophical angle.....well, I've been coming here for years and I'm not sure I could answer that."
Why does anyone land in any particular place?
"I think you find the door because the door wants you to find it. After that, it's all one big opportunity. To get out and put in what you will."
"Well," Lily says, "I was looking in my trunk for a jumper, and there was trap door in the bottom of it that I don't think had ever been there before, and when I opened it, there was a ladder down into a little round room with a door in it, and it brought me here."
The girl looks not unlike what Parker remembers the new freshmen looking like at Hearst. Curious and a little ready to jump.
"Probably not," Parker says with a smile. "You aren't really in your tower any more."

But not much.
"So where am I?"

She holds out a hand.
"I'm Parker Lee."
Reply
"Lily Evans.
"The Bar at the End of the Universe?
"And I got here from Hogwarts?"

Parker eyes the wand, but doesn't comment. A girl is well within her rights to be ready to defend herself after all.
"Yeah. It, ah....it doesn't make a whole lot of physical-slash-logical sense."
Even for someone from a place like Hogwarts. Or so Parker imagines.
"But doors from all sorts of times and worlds lead here. Right through that one."
Parker nods at the door behind Lily.

As for the rest of it ...
"Times and worlds?"

"And you're from England."
Beat.
"I mean, I think. Going by the accent."

"And when you say '2010' and '1980s' ... you mean the years, don't you?"
Okay the time travel part is weird.
Reply
"Yeah. You get used to introducing yourself by name, place of origin and year here."
It's all part and parcel of Milliways.
"It's a great place. I sometimes can't believe I was ever lucky enough to find it."

"So, why do people come here?"

Parker laughs a little. At herself.
"That's probably not helpful at all, is it?"

"Do other people at Hogwarts know about it?"
Reply
"Everyone who comes here has a door. For some people it's fixed in one place. For some people it pops up in odd places. For some it does both."
"Where did you find yours?" Parker asks curiously.

Parker holds up her cocoa in salute.
"Mine mostly hangs out in the back of my closet, and then sneaks up on me when I'm out and about."
It's kind of like having a rather flighty pet.
"Do you want something to drink? Your first one is free."

That would take a pretty impressive charm.
"It's not like Persephone in the Underworld or something, right? I don't get trapped here if I eat or drink anything, do I?"
