There is a quiet man in a suit at a table, doing his best to deface a Gideon's Bible. Right now, he's working on the story of Jephthas's daughter -- not a particularly graphic series of drawings, but interesting enough

Sariel's heard that loud voice before. It's enough to make her look up from her book (she's not defacing it, just reading it) and over. Just in time to... oh, mother of--
She's no security officer, but when someone is having sharp objects slung at them, the average Starfleet officer is going to react. "Teller, look--" knife, meet chair leg. "--out!" She's on her feet by the end of her warning.
Teller doesn't seem very bothered by this. In fact, it almost looks as though he takes a few moments to even notice that Penn is doing anything stupid.
When he notices Sariel, he smiles and offers her a bit of his apple.
Sariel's close enough that it doesn't take very long at all to close the distance between herself and Teller. That book's abandoned, for now. The startled, dismayed expression is not. It's being turned on the knife now in Teller's hand, then Penn, and back and forth a time or two more.
"... Were you expecting that?" She sounds a little dubious, not to mention disconcerted. She'll get round to accepting the apple tidbit in a second.
Is now giving Penn a look remarkably similar to the one in the icon, if descriptions of the icon are to be believed. Congratulations, Penn. That sort of expression doesn't cross her face very often.
"Please don't tell me you've had knives thrown at you before?" She's pretty sure she already knows the answer, but she's asking Teller anyhow. Hope springs eternal?
"It is," Sariel says. She's addressing Penn, and she's quite serious. "You could have done Teller a serious injury."
Some things require more reaction than the norm, and this is one. Once an officer, always an officer. Beat. "Do I dare ask?" That's decidedly milder, and aimed at the other half of the duo.
There's a story here, but Sariel's not sure she wants to know the details.
Reprise that look in Penn's direction, one more time. Set to full strength, even. The narration, meanwhile, is very, very glad Sariel can't see the above icon.
"No one should be treated that way." Again, that's milder, but there's a strain of what's plainly righteous anger running through it. The idea of Sariel defending anyone might seem hard to believe, but it's happened before.

Nope, not expecting that, specifically. Expecting Penn to do something stupid? Definitely.

Perfectly normal behaviour between these two.

"That's terrible."

Teller rolls his eyes. Okay, not quite normal. Penn's been in a mood all day, which is why Teller was ignoring him in the first place.

"Hurt him?" Penn asks. "Teller? Nah, he can handle it."
He seems fairly confident in this fact.

He throws another knife in Teller's direction, and this one lands near his feet.
Rolling his eyes, Teller picks up this one as well, and adds it to his collection of Things Penn Isn't Getting Back.

That? Is a tone of clear disgust. Two guesses as to who's earned it, and the first doesn't count.
"I'll call security," she continues. That's half a warning, half a question. Give the word, Teller, and she totally will.

"Nah, I'm not breaking any rules," Penn says, in complete defiance. "See? He's fine. It doesn't bother him at all."
Oh, Penn. Just shut up.

She hasn't called anyone yet?

Yeah, Penn should probably shut up now. Teller goes back to his very convincing act of not realising anything is happening around him.
See how interested he is in his drawings?
