Once he got used to this whole "world" thing he's had to put up with, Cepheus has been a really easygoing baby. Or at least, his parents were able to handle everything he was figuratively throwing at them

"You two okay?" Guppy asks, bringing Coral over.

[gorgonfondness]

Mia shakes her head.

"I don't know what's gotten into him but he's been fussing and crying for the better part of the day. He's not obviously sick so I don't really know what's going on."

[guppy_sandhu]

"Want to swap a moment so I can take a look at him?" Guppy offers. "Sometimes it's tricky. Shufti said once her Jack bawled for four hours because there was a clothing tag itching him."

"All right," she says. "Here, I've got his pram. That should make switching easier."

Mia gives Cepheus a kiss and sets him down in there, though it's clear the kiss isn't making things better yet.

Guppy passes her Coral, then picks up Cepheus.

"What are you doing, worrying your poor Mummy then?" he asks gently, feeling Cepheus' forehead, checking him over generally.

"Is he teething?" he asks, peering in the mouth of the bawling baby.

"I...don't know..." Mia says. "I didn't think to check for that."

If Cepheus could talk, he'd be quick to tell Guppy that yes, he most definitely is.

Guppy, who has clean hands, gently opens Cepheus' mouth to look at his gums.

"Could be, let's get him something to nom." he says, nipping to the bar and coming back with a teething ring.

"Might want to put it in the fridge for extra effect." he says, waiting to see if it works.

Cepheus seems to be taking to it while Mia is taking to Coral.

"What about my magic?" Mia suggests. "I can cool it down with my ice magic until it's sufficiently chilled."

"Oh, yes, that's a good idea." Guppy says.

He hands Cepheus back with one hand, and takes Coral, who has just watched contentedly, in the other. She smiles and leans her head on him.

Mia takes her baby back and puts her finger on the teething ring. She subtly chills it, nowhere near freezing so it should be comfortable.

Cepheus holds it in front of him, marveling at how it's suddenly cold, before putting it back into his mouth. He's considerably more content.

"Imagine that, teeth now... They grow up so fast."

[guppy_sandhu]

"I know." Guppy says. "Alex started a new nursery today, and some of the questions he came back with just made me realise how much you can have a conversation with him these days. And Coral's giggling away now, aren't you sweetheart?"

"It makes me wonder all the more about what Cepheus will be like when he gets older."

[guppy_sandhu]

"A fine if cheeky young man, I reckon." Guppy says.

Mia eyes him a little but she is smiling.

"And what brings you to that conclusion?"

[guppy_sandhu]

"The first part, his parents, and the second, that cute little grin he does." Guppy says, reaching over to tickle Cepheus.

Cepheus wriggles at the tickling but he keeps his mouth focused on the ring.

"Surely it will just be the feather of his boyish charm."

She doesn't expect an angel but it's hard to imagine the trouble he will surely find as he is now.
