The one with the Chick

There's a familiar-looking man in the bar today. You might recognise him, but you'd be forgiven if you didn't. He's a little older, has a bit more facial hair than before and...

Wait. Is that a chicken?

Yep. Chandler's over by the fire, holding a small, yellow chick in his hands. A small, yellow chick that is also quite damp.

Cheep! Cheep! Cheep

"Tickin!" Alex squeaks, running over to look at it. He bounces and flaps his hands in excitement.

"Careful Alex, you'll scare it." Guppy says, coming up behind him to keep him from getting too close.

"Yeah, it's a chicken," Chandler agrees, holding little Yasmine so that Alex can see him her.

[guppy_sandhu]

"Me! Me!" Alex pleads.

"Chandler, please can he hold the chicken if he sits down? He's very careful with fluffy things." Guppy asks.

[pickyourmoments]

"Be nice to her," Chandler says easily. "She's had a very rough day."

[guppy_sandhu]

Fry sits down and holds his hands out eagerly.

"What happened to her?" Guppy asks. "It's okay, he's held them before, he was very good."

[pickyourmoments]

"Joey tried to see if chicks could swim," Chandler answers easily as he hands her over to Alex.

Which probably explains why she's all damn right now.

"Aww, poor little thing." Guppy says.

Alex isn't so sure about the chicken when it's damp, but he gently strokes the top of its head with his finger.

"Is wet!" he says.

"Yeah, she's all wet. Maybe we should use a very gentle low heat hairdrier?" Guppy says.

"Yeah, she didn't like that so much," Chandler says simply.

[guppy_sandhu]

"How about a heat lamp?" Guppy suggests. "I'm not sure it's good for them to get cold."

"Tick tick tick tick tickin, lay a little egg for me!" Alex sings.

[pickyourmoments]

"Do they have one around here?" Chandler asks. "I thought sitting by the fire would be good enough, but I don't really know a whole lot about chickens."

[guppy_sandhu]

Guppy thinks about this for a moment.

"We have a baby treatment cot in the infirmary. That's got a heat source."

[pickyourmoments]

"I don't really think she should be left alone right now," Chandler says. "Then she gets scared, and she starts to cry..."

Okay, he may just be projecting.

[guppy_sandhu]

"You could stay with her?" Guppy suggests.

"Cryin bad." Alex says, eying the chicken like she's likely to explode.

[pickyourmoments]

"I can do that?" he asks. "Well... yeah. If you think it would be good for her."

[guppy_sandhu]

"Well, I don't know much about them, but at Funky Farm they put chicks in incubators."

[pickyourmoments]

"Funky Farm?" he asks. "That's just down the road from Conjunction Junction, isn't it?"
