First Entrance

"I'll just check in the back," comes a soft, English-accented voice from the door, followed shortly after by a small, blond teenager, who stops dead in his tracks as soon as he turns around to see where he's ended up.

"..."

His jaw drops and he just...STARES.

"It's finally happened. I've cracked under the pressure. I'm too young to be mad."

Sameth probably won't help with the idea that he's mad since he's dressed in a medieval outfit and sketching penguins on parchment,

"You're not mad, this is Milliways. It does sort of make sense."

"Does it? I think I missed that bit."

He looks over at the man speaking, and is, understandably, more than a little concerned by what he sees.

"It takes some time to explain, but it does. Milliways is magic and time stops on the other side of your door while you're here. Look, the first drink is free. Can I get you something?"

David reminds Sameth a lot of the boys he went to Somersby with and that wasn't that long ago, after all, Sam's only seventeen.

"Tea?" Posner drops into a nearby chair a bit heavily. He really should be getting back to the shop and the customer he left waiting, but he's not sure he's up to that just yet.

"Did you say it's...magic?"

[makesthings]

"Yes, magic. Are you from an Earth without it?"

Sam spots a rat and orders some tea and biscuits too.

"There are Earths with magic?"

...and there are rats. He's really too young to have completely snapped.

"Did you just...talk to that rat?"

[makesthings]

"I think so. They're the wait staff here, just think of them like normal waiters and you'll be fine,"

Maybe he'll just hold off on mentioning that he's not from Earth yet,

"I'm Sam."

"Posner." He offers his hand.

"I...how do you think of them as normal waiters. They're...rats."

[makesthings]

"They're easier than the Window and my family has a servant who's in cat shape,"

Sam shakes his hand with a firm grip, his hand is covered in callouses.

"The Window?"

The only callouses on Posner's hand are from holding a pen...

And he'll get back to the cat in a minute.

"Yes, you don't have to look at it yet. Its the End of the Universe, I don't like looking at it,"

The tea arrives quickly along with some biscuits on the side,

"Do you want anything in your tea?"

[smallgayjew]

"The End of the Universe..." he mutters to himself, sinking further in the chair.

"Milk and sugar?" Far too normal a question for this whole experience.

Sam's quick with the tea and pushes over the cup and the plate of biscuits,

"I wish I could make it easier to make sense of, but its Milliways."

Posner takes the tea gratefully, curling his hands around the cup. Something about tea is always comforting.

After a moment, he manages, "Did you say you have a cat for a servant?"

"Family servant, he's sometimes cat shaped and he's just Mogget,"

Trying to explain his family and the Old Kingdom really won't be helpful for Posner.

[smallgayjew]

"Just Mogget..." he mutters, frowning into his cup.

"I am just hallucinating, aren't I? Not sure why I'm asking you. If you are a hallucination, you'll hardly tell me..."

He's not sure if he'd rather be going mad or really have found a bar called Milliways in the back room.
