(OOM: Cata takes an assignment that doesn't quite go according to plan.)Cata made it down to an alley before trying any doors; thankfully, this one worked the way she was hoping it would. Just because it doesn't hurt all that much doesn't make it any less serious, and from that perspective, Milliways is closer ( Read more... )

Oh, that's not looking good.

"Scheisse. Vot happened?" asks the Medic, who'd just crept in for a bit of reading time out of the way of his usual colleagues. He grabs a chair and adds "Sit. Sit und zen you can tell me, ja?"

"An assignment," Cata says, as she sits down. Sitting down is good. "I had no choice but to take my shot while the target had company, and... it seems my reflexes aren't quite what they used to be."

"Chust a moment." He hasn't got his medigun immediately to hand, but with a coat like his there's always bandages and other appropriate medicaments about somewhere, and he can most assuredly clean up the area and stop the bleeding. "Vell, I suppose zere are worse ways to learn, alzough I can't imagine it's very pleasant now. Your target von't be home in time for supper ever again, I assume?"

"Not any time soon, at least. The person who made the contract wanted the option to revive the man and give him what for, and we're nothing if not accommodating."
She waits while he digs through pockets. Not as though she has anywhere else to be (nor would she want to until this gets patched up).

"Sehr gut. Und his companion?" Medic asks as he starts to work. "Ach, I may haf to eizer get ze needle und thread or persuade ze medigun to function outside of workday parameters."

"Wasn't part of the contract, unfortunately. Besides, I'm not sure I would have been able to fire a second shot after taking a hit like this."
That's another nice thing about working with poisons: There's far less chance of attracting an audience.
Cata nods. "Do what you need to."

"Fair enough," says the Medic. "Hm. Eizer vay I'm going to need to do ze full deal in anozzer room. Zis is no place to sew up a wound. I sink I can perhaps justify barging in on ze infirmary here..."

"I can't imagine anyone stopping us." If nothing else, she's sure the infirmary's seen far worse in its life.

He nods once and stands up before gesturing to Cata to do the same. Under ordinary circumstances he wouldn't dream of implying that she was anything but capable in her own right, but in this situation she's lost a fair bit of blood, so he feels entirely justified in offering her an arm- or perhaps a whole side- to lean on. God help anybody who gets in the way in the meantime.

And she does lean on him, more than she would care to have to - but one can only do so much about blood loss. The sooner they can get this patched up, the better.
"I'm glad you were here," she says, as they make their way to the infirmary. She would have found some help regardless, but... well. It's better to have someone you trust.

"It vos good luck," the Medic agrees. "I had meant to spend mein evening at home with Katyusha, but vun sing und anozzer interfered und I had to come here to avoid throttling a teammate or two. Ah, here we are; sit down und I'll chust get ze appropriate equipment..."

"Perhaps we should thank them, then." (She may or may not be slightly more out of it than she'd care to admit.)
As she sits down, she adds, "At least it's not my dominant arm."
It's still rather a hassle, all things considered, but it could be worse.

Up goes one eyebrow. "I'll sink of somesing," he murmurs. "In ze meantime, lean forward und hold still. I am going to numb ze site before I do anysing else, und it's going to hurt sharply first before sensation goes away."

"All right."
Holding still at least doesn't pose a problem. She's not quite that far out of herself.

It's a vast improvement over trying to apply medical treatment to any of his fellow BLU team members. Admittedly, the BLU team has largely been conditioned not to hold still in case of sniper presence, but the Medic sees that as no real excuse. And if nothing else, having to deal with fidgety BLUs means he's learned to be quick about his business. "Here we go," he says as he sets the needle in place. "Zis is lidocaine, a local anaesthetic I've seen used many a time. Vun of ze more reliable compounds und very easy to acquire or synthesize wissout raising eyebrows. We give it a few minutes, und I begin removing ze basic bandages like so, und shortly you won't feel me at work at all."

"I don't know that we've got anything quite like that. It must come in useful."
It's hard to really watch him work, from this angle, but she does the best she can.
