"I kinda hear people keep meeting you," Kaworu comments. He leans against the kitchen wall as he says this. He could do with elaborating on that statement a little more, but he doesn't seem to plan on it.

"Do you think they shouldn't?" she asks, letting Cepheus try another baby-sized spoonful of mushy carrots.

"It's just strange," Kaworu says. Yes, he is avoiding answering the question entirely. "It's like someone has a plan for you to meet the rest of my family and won't be deterred from it."

[gorgonfondness]

"You're not ashamed of them, are you? You've no reason to be."

She wipes Cepheus's drooly mouth with a napkin.

"No."

Kaworu makes it a point in life not to be ashamed about anyone or anything. Which is why he finds the feelings about this to be rather conflicting. He doesn't like confliction.

"I just... don't want anyone to dislike each other."

It's a concern he's never felt in his life before.

"Oh?"

She turns to properly face Kaworu now.

"Are you worried I wouldn't like them? Or that they might not like me?"

"..."

Kaworu is having an awfully hard time with this conversation, even though he initiated it on this particular topic. He doesn't like feelings. Feelings should just go away and become logical before they are allowed to come back.

"...I know Miharu was weird."

Miharu is always weird.

"Miharu? He's the one that looks like he needs a good meal, right? And we almost got into a debate on whether he really exists or not."

It's all said fairly matter-of-fact.

"I thought Miharu had some interesting things to say. I might actually take another look at the Book of Job thanks to his prompting."

"He used to look worse. He's been force-fed to the point of twenty pounds gain in three months."

Which was more of a way to make someone ill, really.

But pause.

...

"Book of Job?"

Now Kaworu knows the rest of the possibilities bothering him. Painfully so.

"Are you serious?" Mia asks, eyes wide. "Oh, the poor thing. Seems my maternal intuition was more right than I hoped it would be."

Make no mistake, there shall be fooding next time of a far healthier sort. Insistent fooding, but still fooding.

"Yes. I had come across it once when looking into Earth's religious texts."

"Everyone's intuitions ring around him," Kaworu says. "He likes to pretend to be oblivious to this."

Except he wasn't. Kaworu knows this very well by the scar on his hand.

"What religion did you discuss?" Now Kaworu's pretending to be withdrawn. He's worse at it than Miharu is.

Now she thinks Miharu should be here to help try this food.

"Oh, this and that. Judaism, Christianity, Babylonian beliefs, and Althenaism."

It would be interesting if he casually showed up, wouldn't it?

"Babylonian."

And this is where the mun is educated on the meaning of 'blanch'.

Mia takes quick note of this. And takes a moment to distract Cepheus with his octopus toy again before asking, "What's wrong?"

"No, it's just interesting that those subjects would come up."

No it wasn't. It was completely expected and Kaworu is stupid for being surprised. At least he feels that way.

"It has to do with you," she guesses.

Sort of. There's not a lot of question in her voice.

She softly smiles and says, "I know you're not worried about talking behind your back."
