It's been quiet in Forks.

If anything, that's probably the reason why Carlisle hasn't been around so much - quiet tends to equal happy for the Cullens, so Carlisle has been basking in it the tiniest bit.

But obligations are obligations, so he is here checking in at the infirmary and milling about the place to see if he can be of assistance.

It's funny, at Milliways, how you can not see someone for a while, and then the moment you start actively keeping an eye out for him, there he is.

But then, that's hardly the funniest thing about Milliways, so it's not quite a surprise to see Dr. Cullen in the bar today.

So Meg retrieves the drawing and note she left with Bar last night (placed carefully between two sheets of cardboard to avoid further wrinkles) and makes her way over.

"Hello, Dr. Cullen."

"Meg. How are you? I haven't seen you in a while, but I suppose that is my own fault."

He's slightly more chatty than Carlisle might otherwise be, but it's Meg. She's hard to not like.

"I'm sure part of it has to do with when we wind up here and whether or not those times coincide.

"And I'm well. It's been kind of a crazy summer, but things are going well, now.

"How are you?"

"Things are peaceful. It's always nice when the biggest event in my day is needing to restock gauze in the supply closets at work.

"Edward mentioned your accident. I'm assuming you've recovered well."

As if Carlisle could make that a demand of the universe or something.

A familiar voice is laughing in the hallway and then someone peers into the infirmary.

"You always were quite the workaholic."
