Her screams eventually reach the ear of someone inside.
Curious, he pops outside.
Well... That's not good... that fire is heading toward the woods.
He disappears, reappears in the fire just above who ever it is who is burning, and disappears along with the burning flailing thing.
The poor demon bunnies are left wandering what just happened.
Over the lake, Evil Chicken and the burning flailing thing reappear. Said burning thing drops into the lake, while Evil Chicken disappears and reappears in the lake closer to shore.
Ah, sweet relief. For his valiant efforts, Evil Chicken is rewarded with singed feathers. Maybe he should have let Lateri do this instead.
He disappears again, not particularly concerned that the formerly burning flailing thing might drown.
Wasn't she just on fire? What is she doing here? Wha... where is here?
She can feel how cool the lake is, so obviously her skin grew back. There is an unfamiliar lightness to her head though.
"Darn. Must be bald."
As she swam to shore she wondered what the hell she was going to do about her lack of clothes... she had a feeling the patrons would disapprove of nudity in the bar.
Ben had come out for some peace and quiet but he should have know he wasn't going to find that here. His first instinct when he saw the burning person was, "Aww cripes, Johnny's here." but the screams of pain quickly dispelled that notion. Then, before Ben could act, a giant chicken had appeared and then dropped whomever was burning into the lake.
And of course this being Milliways, it couldn't stop there. Ben couldn't help staring for a minute or two (he is a guy after all) before his gentlemanly nature took over and he ran inside to get a beach towel. He'd have grabbed some clothes too but his brain was still a bit off kilter.
And so here he is averting his gaze but holding out the beach towel.
Is this a golem? A golem that fetches towels? A golem that acts bashful? Who would program such a thing?
Beat.
Oh right. Nakedness. Towel.
She takes the towel and wraps it around herself. What a wonderfully absorbent towel!
Though the thing is presently avoiding gazing at her (who would program it to do that? Doesn't that just make what it does seem creepy?), she managed to catch a glimpse of its eyes. It's blue, human eyes.
Ben gives a little laugh. "Me and my friends were testing a space ship. Unfortunately the shielding wasn't good enough and well...the rest is history as they say."
Part of her is objecting to the idea. Cosmic rays don't work that way! This was something accomplished by a set of very specific changes. Not something as random as cosmic rays.
Well, no, cosmic rays can be manipulated by those who emit them.
"Actually turn to fire or set himself on fire?" She holds out free hand palm upward and a small flame appears above it.
She looks at it, a mix of confusion and annoyance visible on her face. "Oh, why did I do that? How an I going to put that out now?" Give Ben a pat on the shoulder? Try to suffocate it with the towel? Sand on the beach? The lake?
"It doesn't hurt him?" It still hurts her, even though she recovers from it quickly. Hence the screaming and the howling. Not that she has a habit of setting herself on fire. Or letting other things set her on fire.
Her attempts to kill herself millenia ago totally do not count.

"I'm human just got caught in a cosmic ray storm."

Perhaps.
Part of her wants to poke at him.

"I guess it's more settin' himself on fire. In fact I thought you were him when I first spotted ya out here."
