Jack's pretty much decided it's time to leave Milliways for a while, to get back to L.A. and get himself out of town. He's just not sure of two things: one, exactly when he's going to leave and two, whether he's actually going to tell anyone he's leaving before he goes.
He's probably going to give people some hint of it, though, considering he's sitting at a table with a couple maps, bus schedules and the book of Amtrak timetables in front of him.
