Beware, Milliways. Tonight there is a ruthless killer about, a master of disguise, a creature of cunning and cruelty.

There is no telling where it could show up. It could be anywhere!

Though the rustling paper sack on the bar may be a clue.

Rustling paper sack.

Cue one pilot, Eyeing It Carefully.

It rustles as though there is something inside it, curled up or moving in a circle, perhaps, twisting to get comfortable.

There may be another noise along with the rustling, very faint, like a well-tuned motor heard from far away.

That sounds like a cat. Trudy relaxes, a bit, but still watches.

Pandora makes everyone paranoid.

The sack is near the edge of the bar, and the cat is kind of enthusiastic about finding the most comfortable way of curling up in his happy place paper sack. From how the sack is moving, it's going to fall over at any moment.

Trudy reacts without really thinking about - lunging forward to catch the bag, or at least stop it from falling over.

"Oh, no you don't."

There is rustling and a small sound of surprise as she catches the sack. Should she look, there is a small, white cat on its back in an awkward contortion inside the sack, looking up at her as though to say, What just happened? It wasn't my fault.

"Myii?" Earperk.

She looks.

"Hey, kitty, whatcha doin' that for, hm?"

He shifts and turns in a way that would make most vertebrates cringe - huzzah for flexibility - as he tries to get his paws under him. The sack makes lovely crackling noises as he moves. "Mrwwwwrrrrrr," he purrs, looking up at her.

The bag is placed back on the bar. "There, that better?"

The cat looks around a moment, before pushing the bag over onto its side so it can slink out of the bag with ease and catlike suaveness. Once free, it looks over at Trudy, perking its soft white ears at her in interest.

"Mwrrt?"

"You," she informs the cat, "are very pretty, you know that."

The cat twitches an ear, blinking slowly at her. He totally knows it.

He's very much aware of it, even as he steps forward to streeeeetch, yawning with back arched, luxuriating in it.

Fuck it.

"If I pat you, are you going to be nice or claw my hand off?"

The cat finishes its stretch, blinking innocently up at her with very green eyes.

Who, him? He's as nice as can be. When he's not being ruthless and cruel, &c. &c.

Cautiously, she extends her hand, lets him sniff, and then gently, oh so gentle, starts to scritch.

The gentle might not last long, as after sniffing cautiously, the cat enthusiastically leans a good percentage of its body weight against her hand, the strong vibration of purring running through it.

She passes the test, it seems.
