At roughly 4:30 AM last night, Alyx Vance finally cracked the last layer of encryption on the data she pulled from that Aperture Science facility a while back. At which point she almost immediately collapsed into bed, because she was freaking tired.She's rested and refreshed now, though, and is going through the newly unlocked files on her laptop.

Charlie - very much Charlie again - spots Alyx a few minutes later. And sees her quite engrossed. A sure way to get his attention. "Hey."

"Hey," says Alyx without looking up.

"New software package?" He could ask if TMZ has something on its site, but he know she won't get that joke.

"Hacked data from Aperture Science," says Alyx. "We got it about four months ago and I just now manged to get the encryption cracked."

Gordon was asleep at the time. It's a rare thing for him, which is probably why Alyx didn't wake him up. He's awake now, though.

"Morning, Alyx," he says as he makes his way over to her table. Look , as far as he's concerned it's morning.

Not a lot of things would tear Alyx's eyes away from the laptop screen just now. Gordon is, of course, right at the top of the list.

"Hey, you."

Gordon smiles and kisses the top of her forehead lightly. "Looks like I'm interrupting something big...."

"Finally got the last of the encryption cracked last night," says Alyx. "Have a look." She pushes the laptop over so Gordon can see the list of files.

"And then some," says Alyx without looking up. "Did I tell you about Aperture Science at all?"

"It was a rival company to Black Mesa back in the day," says Alyx. "I pulled a bunch of data from one of their old facilities about four months ago, and I just got the last layer of encryption cracked last night."
