Ellen's had some time to consider the Cubefall offer the Bar made yesterday. Ultimately what the decisionmaking process boiled down to was: sometimes you have questions you just can't answer any other way. "Bar?" she says hesitantly as she comes down this morning. "Can I ... I have some bottlecaps here. Can I get a set of inexpensive clothing that'll make good rags when everything is done?"
The clothing is provided.
"Thank you," she says, and goes upstairs to change out of her Vault suit. Once she's done she says, "Can I take one of those vidwindows outside to use, please?"
Uncle Leo said he'd tried to reach the other mutants before they drove him out. She's heard them talk to each other; they're not as stupid as they look even if most of them aren't as smart as Leo. Back home the only way to find out what it's really like in those heads of theirs- or in those bodies of theirs, anyway- is a one way trip, if what Uncle Leo said was right. Here? Here it's a different story.
But she's not going to test that out indoors. That could get messy.
