The door simply opens and shuts, letting a young woman, primly dressed, enter. The business jacket and modest skirt are both navy blue, with a school crest blazoned on the lapel. Her hair is pulled back into a neat twist- but no, no glasses. The lady can see well enough without any such thing, thank you ( Read more... )

Don't mind the Bright Shiner at the bar. He's just trying to get a good look at that book.

The title- now the title is the only part of the book that is slightly worn. Once gilt itself, the gold has rubbed off, leaving behind only the impression of the letters on the spine-

And the angle of light is wrong to try to catch them, at least at the moment.

How irritating, for one possessed of boundless curiosity.

"Excuse me," the albino speaks up with a slight smile, not shy in the least. "What book is that?"

She can appretiate curiousity. And directness, as well. With a bemused glance at Yrael, Athena opens up the book so he can read the title page.

White eyebrows rise slightly. "I hadn't seen such an early edition."

Even if the book had been rebound; it's a nice binding.

"I'd be curious to see if there are any major discrepancies between the earlier printings and the later. They always change things; details are forgotten, or are altered to make a better story."

"There were a few changes made to the second edition, which is the one I have." She closes the book. "I took extensive notes as to what did get changed, to have on hand for reference. This one, unfortunately, isn't mine."

Athena rests her hand on the front cover, before setting the book on the bar. "I borrowed years ago from another patron. Quite some time, I know, but previous items lent back and forth were often gone for longer."

"I have been coming here some few decades myself," Yrael smiles. "Perhaps I know the patron? I could deliver their book for you."

"Thank you kindly for your offer-" Her tone is dry, but a smile is not so easy to repress.

"But I do believe I will leave the book with the bar. But if you wish, I can also leave a note for my friend, to let him know someone else here would be interested in borrowing it, Mister...?"

"Call me Yrael," the not'cat grins, green eyes bright. "And you are...?"

"Camilla Ergane." She offers her hand-

For a handshake. Nothing else.

Yrael wouldn't dare, certainly... His grin says otherwise, but he takes the hand as it's meant.

"Pleased to meet you, Camilla Ergane," he says. His pale hand is very warm.

"So, you aren't new to the bar; I just have not had the pleasure of meeting you until now. What's your where and when?"

"You are correct, I have been here a few times before. It just seems that I've never run into you either, Yrael."

Her lips twitch into an amused smile. That question, or any of the many versions of it, is a familiar Milliways standard.

"Earth, two thousand and ten. I teach in a military academy in Britian. And yourself?"
