The faint sound of chanting that is in the background has a frantic note to it and there is the scent of blood, sulfur and musty sickly-sweet incense that fades into nothingness when the sound dissipates. Somewhere out there, four priestesses assume that their offering was accepted; and a dark goddess assumes her traitorous prey is in the hands of

Either way, while she may look humanoid, she definitely isn't a normal human, and she doesn't look anything like an elf, of any sort. So probably not a cleric of Kiaransalee.
The stranger feels very much like she is bound with death, intrinsically. Only worse. She seems to definitely not be mortal. And much larger, aura-wise than many of the necromancers Zak has had the bad luck to run into. She's probably practically unkillable, if so ( ... )

"I am Rem, a Shinigami," she said, "You are in Milliways, the Bar at the end of the Universe. Do you have a door?"
She was pointing to the wall where doors appeared and disappeared, and sometimes the from part of a cell, that had a strange occupant.

So, politeness seems to work. Wonderful. Perhaps he can get out of this in one piece, without being dragged off to the Abyss or the Nine Hells.
"I... No, I have no door." Zak says cautiously. "The last thing I remember is a dagger carving out my heart."
He deliberately leaves out the exact circumstances of his demise, being sacrificed by his Matron in exchange for his son's life, as those would be too good a clue for any servant of the Spider Queen to miss, and he doesn't want to take any chances with his soul's wellbeing.
A shinigami? He has never heard the term.
"May I please ask you for a further clarification?" He asked warily. "I have never heard of a 'Shinigami' before and thus, I am still, regrettably, confused as to what you refer to when you mention that term."

Rem motioned him to a corner booth. She was so tall that that she sat hugging her knees.
"I am a god of death," she said, "But I am dead so I am no longer bound by the Shinigami rules. However, I am bound by the rules of this place."
She sighed, she needed to find a way to pay for her tab.
"I have no door either."

The shinigami's next words confused the drow thoroughly. Deities were supposed to be unkillable, immortal, all powerful. Lolth's priestesses certainly did their best to further this impression. He had never heard a deity could die.
Though he hoped if it was possible, that someone would kill Lolth. And soon. That bitch certainly deserved it.
This being seemed to be both polite and surprisingly nonviolent. Fascinating, and rather refreshing to a drow who was used to beings that had neither positive aspect of personality and had a similar level of power.... If the aura he was feeling was correct.
Which brought to the drow's mind another odd thing. The aura seemed to be far too small to be that of any full Faerun deity Zak had heard of so far, more similar in size and intensity to that of say, a highly placed servitor to a deity ( ... )

Oh there is potential for violence in her, great violence, let us hope no one else inspires her to try and kill in the bar again.

If anything, it made him want to do as any drow in their right mind would do, and move out of smite-radius.
Still, the idea that a deity could be dragged in the cells and not walk out through the walls to maim him were a good thing, given that it was probably Lolth who would want his hide or his son's.
Still, the answer he was given wasn't very specific. Hard to work with, really.
"What manner of work, may I please ask?" he kept his posture respectful and straight. The very image of a male who was waiting on a priestess' directions.

She smiled at him again, " You look uncomfortable, I can understand with the new situation, but... I am not easily offended."
