It was hard being a new first time father. Cepheus was very demanding, rather like his father was at the same age as the now grandmother Narcissa pointed out to him helpfully. She found it endearing and further proof of the Malfoy genes. Still the happy coos from his son were an indication Mia's Ausa line was tempering it some ( Read more... )

Poor guy.

Guppy has sympathy for him; Alex still only sleeps six hours or so a night. He therefore pauses to gently flop a blanket over Draco.

Especially when sometimes just so Mia can get some sleep, they pair off on baby duties. Or it's more, well you're closer to the door, darling, *you* go.

Draco yawned, and slowly opened an eye several minutes later. Funny, he didn't remember conjuring a blanket. He slowly rubbed his grey eyes as he lifted his head.

Guppy looks over and waves.

"You okay?"

It could be worse. All of Draco's wakeups are optional. Mia has to be awake for the late night feedings.

Right now, the baby is asleep and snug in his pram, one thumb firmly in his mouth and his fingers curled around his Papa bear.

Mia quietly gasps when she gets the flowers and softly goes over with the pram to sit by Draco.

"Like father like son," she softly says and presses a kiss to his temple.

Draco murmured in his sleep, something that could be Mmm or Mia. A grey eye slowly blinked open, and he yawned.

She strokes his hair the way he likes.

"You manage to be a charmer even when you're sleep deprived," she whispers.

Slow easy smile to his face as he stirred more.

"Mmmm, pampering like that helps. Hullo darling."

Tom claps him on the shoulder.

"No sleep for the wicked. I hear congratulations are in order."

Draco yelped as he woke suddenly, and his flailing arm whacked the salt shaker to the floor. A quick Reparo spell later he sighed.

"Thank you, Tom. That could have been a tad gentler?" He rubbed his head, and wiped a hand over his face. "We will certainly bring the little one to visit. After all, extra sitters would always be useful." Brief smirk touched his features. It'd likely be a while yet before they call on babysitting duties for even family.

"Extra sitters? You're funny. We've avoided extra child minding since Mary Poppins left. May I buy you a drink in celebration? Coffee, perhaps?"

Yeah, fatigue is funny when you have no newborns in the house.

"Oh Merlin, yes, thank you."

Draco sighed, "Cepheus has no comprehension of a normal sleep schedule."
