Cameron's spent the past half-hour standing in front of the Observation Window, spine straight, feet (in their motorcycle boots) a shoulder's width apart. Not moving.

Now, obeying some cue visible only to her, she tromps back toward the bar. And stops.

The book she requests is a medical text. It has glossy pictures.

. . .

Okay.

Trowa, a few yards down the bar, placidly orders decaf coffee. (But no textbooks.)

Cameron observes Trowa's purchase of a mild stimulant made from fragrant beans.

Her book includes information about which medicines interact poorly with his drink.

Trowa is not currently taking any of the medications on that list.

In turn, he observes her book. And its glossy pictures. And her!

He probably can't read the words from here, though.

Cameron is also not actually looking at that list. But it's there.

She's looking through several pages about cancerous tumors. The words aren't necessarily necessary.

Not Trowa's area of expertise.

He has some coffee.

Not Cameron's either!

Hence the book.

It doesn't take her very long to absorb the information, though. Which leaves her with plenty of time to glance at Trowa again.

Trowa glances back.

Openly, this time, instead of with discreet observation.

Cameron knows the meaning of discreet observation, but only because she read it in the dictionary.

The meaning of staring straight at Trowa, on the other hand, she has a deep intuitive grasp of.

Trowa has noticed this! Cameron is a prodigy, when it comes to staring straight at people without regard for social cues.

He waits.
