SUDDENLY, BANANAS! ... thousands of them!

No, seriously. They're pouring in through the door. Just- thousands of bananas, piling up in a huge yellow heap that at least promises to block the flow of even more bananas... at least until the heap starts moving and scatters more of the bananas in all directions.

For what it's worth, that's the fault

*ahem*

"Hi, Enzo," says Ray. "Poltergeist. Mind passing me a shovel or something?"

"Uh, sure. Just a nano."

Off to the Bar, and he returns equipped with a pair of snow shovels.

"You know your world's ghosts are even weirder than Dani's, right?"

"When Optimus Prime asks you in all seriousness if you come to Milliways to get a regular dose of something approaching normalcy, it's generally time to evaluate the spooks you work with, among other things," Ray says. "Yes, I'm aware. At least it's not another screaming burrito."

"Hey, maybe that's what we should name the band..." Enzo muses, scooping a shovelful of bananas into the cart.

"Works as well as anything else," Ray says. "Band?"

[a1enzo]

"Oh, me and some friends at school are starting one."

[gone_byebye]

"Congratulations," Ray says. "Here or in Mainframe?"

[a1enzo]

"Supercomputer," he reminds Ray. "The Academy?"

"Argh. My apologies, Enzo," Ray says. "In my defense, bananas."

[a1enzo]

"No problem," Enzo agrees. 'Cause. Bananas.

"Why bananas?"

[gone_byebye]

"There's been manifestations in the forms of rain of fruit for about a week," Ray says. "We're still trying to run down the source. Bananas happened to hit today. I'm just glad it wasn't cantaloupes."

"Is it dangerous?" Enzo asks, eyeing his current shovelful a bit warily. "Besides falling out of the sky, I mean. Is it just regular fruit, or...?"

"All the ones we've scanned so far've been ordinary fruit, albeit with a few traces of PKE clinging to them," Ray says. "Nothing that won't dissipate in a day or so."

"At least people can eat it, then."

There are worse things to have rains of.

Ray nods. "We'll probably wind up carting it to one of the local markets, assuming they take fruit of unknown provenance," he says. "Or one of the shelters- we'll see who needs it and wants to deal with the storage."
