"Anything you can pass on," Cal says. "I'm not completely clueless or anything, I have a dog, but I know that's not exactly the same. I - just want an idea of what to expect."

People are a subject on which Cal is an expert. Animals he's a little shakier on.

Cal nods. That makes sense.

"It's in a more upscale neighborhood," he says, "so most of the animals are impulse purchases or pissed on the Persian carpet or something."
