Trowa has coffee (decaf), a seat at a table (good view of the room), and a book of sheet music (closed).

He's ignoring the book in favor of people-watching, for the moment.

To the casual glance, it might look like he's ignoring it in favor of his coffee, but people-watching is nonetheless his main focus.

There's a cat, stalking among the chair-legs. It is very white. One of the waitrats is squeaking angrily at it...

... from a safe distance. The cat doesn't seem to mind.

Trowa's foot may soon be under attack by a rogue (and surprisingly large) dust mote that's heading in its direction. The cat helpfully moves to intercept.

The cat is truly kind!

Trowa likes felines. He shifts his foot slightly, so as to allow the cat a better line of attack, and watches. Mostly with peripheral vision, but not staring is only polite.

The white tail lashes back and forth, the cat dodging quickly from chair leg to table leg...

Haha! The attacking dust mote has overshot its objective, floating past Trowa's foot. Trowa's foot is the next logical bit of cover to conceal the predator from its prey.

Trowa has no objection to being used as cover.

It's a good tactical use of terrain, after all. (Or something.)

The cat creeps out from behind its cover slowly, tensing...

And pouncing!

Death to all dust motes! The battle is swift and violent, but it is a decisive victory for the forces of good Yrael.

AND THE MASSES REJOICE!

Well. Trowa looks on with faintly amused impassivity.

Almost the same thing, right?

The cat, victorious and proud, settles down to clean its wounds and set its fur back in order, its tail wrapped lazily about its paws.

The successful end to a battle does allow the victor time for such things.

Trowa is much too polite to interfere.

The cat makes sure everything is in order, checking ears and tail and paws...

...before wandering over and rubbing up against Trowa's leg Gotta thank the help!

Trowa, after a moment of this, shifts slightly to allow a hand to dangle at his side.

Since the cat's being friendly, and all.

After a few minutes, the dangling hand is headbutted. The cat hopes he knew what he was getting himself into, offering like that.

It did seem a likely result, yes.

If the cat sticks around, there might even be ear-scritches!

(Trowa is a pushover.)

If there are ear-scritches, there will very likely be purrs.

Loud, well-tuned-motorboat purrs, and a cat leaning its head into Trowa's hand.

This is an acceptable state of affairs.

Yep.

Trowa may find his lap to be territory of disputed ownership, as the cat leaps up to be closer to the source of the scritches. In return, it makes a very good lapwarmer.

Trowa is, as a rule, tolerant of personal space invasion.

. . . Granted, from human(oid)s he's rather more suspicious of it too.

The cat gets a thoughtful glance. But he also gets some more ear-scritching.
