The squid-like creature had quite an entertaining time the other night tending Bar; it doesn't get many opportunities like that on board the Spark In Darkness. It was thoroughly fascinated both by its interactions with the patrons and by some of the technology it found behind the Bar. Old stuff that isn't ancient work of the Sangheili or some Forerunner artifact untouched for a hundred thousand years? Such a new experience.
Today it asked the Bar itself for an example of such technology that it could take a part and study and eventually return. It got a coffee maker for its troubles. And it liked it.
So if anyone wants to know why there's six feet of pink and purple and luminescent blue six-eyed squid creature at one of the tables picking an unsuspecting machine apart... that's why.
