Val's feeling restless this evening and so she wanders downstairs to drop off some very late Solstice presents. That done, she orders a glass of warm milk hoping it will help her mood but after sipping it for twenty minutes she decides she needs some sort of physical activity to wind down.
Heading out side she spots the forge and decides to see if anyone is around. Finding the place empty she decides to do some chores. She also has one more present to decide upon and she feels a strong urge to make it rather than purchase it. As she scrubs the work bench an idea begins to form. Emptying the ashes, she begins to construct it within her mind and as she refills the charcoal bin she is committed. Only problem is she agreed to not work in the forge unless Weyland were present. Picking up one of the hammers and taping it on the anvil, an idea occurs to her and she heads outside.
She clears a wide area of anything which could catch fire and then returns to the forge for fuel for her fire. She'll also need water and several buckets not to mention some unworked metal. Forming several force fields as she ties on an apron, she gathers all she'll need and returns to the area she's cleared. Soon enough she has a good fire blazing in the crisp winter air, a few pieces of metal heating within and several bucket filled with water set up for tempering the metal she plans to work.
Pulling out one of the pieces of metal and judging it hot enough, she forms a force field into the shape of an anvil and begins. Her father had once said the best gift a student can give a teacher is something made by the skills taught and Val intends to give Weyland the best gift she can this year.
So intent on her work she doesn't even notice when the night begins to fade. Perhaps a distraction would be good but please forgive her if she makes you wait until she finishes a piece.
