Asher has been in the Bar or it's surrounding grounds since returning from St Louis. Even if his mun has been utterly faily about posting him in.

He's feeling a little more sociable than he has been, so tonight he's sitting by the fire, drinking a rather incongrous humourous mug of blood (courtesy of Bar), and people-watching ( Read more... )

"One assumes this contains what is written upon it," Teja says, instead of a greeting, almost amused when he sees the vampire's mug.

Asher nods, smiling wryly.

"Bar's idea of a little joke, I think," he murmurs. "Good evening, Teja."

"Greetings, Asher," Teja says. "I have not seen you in a while, nor any from your world -- one moment, we were knee-deep in blood-drinkers and wolfmen, the next, they had drifted away like red leaves in an autumn wind."

"I have been here," Asher murmurs. "But this place has so many visitors, it's easy to lose friends in passing."

"I have not always been in here, of course," Teja says, meaning the bar-room proper. "The forge and the horses take up much of my time, also. So I must have missed you when you did come here."

Asher nods. "Sit, please," he gestures to the couch. "Tell me how you are."

Teja sits. Complaining about one's lover to a former lover is most likely very bad form, although not a situation Teja ever encountered in life; but one does not need precedent to feel what to avoid. So Teja talks about the other thing on his mind.

"There seems to be a rogue blood-drinker loose in this place," he says.

"Oh?" Asher sits up, curious. "Rogue in what way?"

"It hunts," Teja says. "Stalks women in quiet places, lulls their minds, drinks from them and then wipes their memory -- it is not even known if it is a he or a she that does so. I myself have seen strange manifestations by the lake; but no more. It has, however, bitten a good friend's" -- he is at loss for words momentarily -- "girl that he is not married to."

Asher frowns. He knows there are many kinds of vampire here, from many worlds...he knows it is not him, nor Jean-Claude, nor Damian. Why would they hunt unwilling prey, when they can feed upon any they choose in their own world?

"It will not be from St Louis, I promise that much," he murmurs. "None have come through save Jean-Claude, Damian, and myself. And we are all fed well enough by our loved ones."

"You are," Teja says. "And so are others, that are known of, in this place. To survive, any blood-drinker may have blood from the bar, even. But it seems none have explained those to this hidden stranger. Or it revels in rule-breaking."

"And it will cause trouble for us all," Asher murmurs darkly. If there is a vampire feeding off the unwilling, it will have to be stopped. He makes a note to find Jean-Claude, inform him of the possible danger. After all, if one vampire causes trouble, it is all of them who suffer.

"Indeed," Teja says, "it will cast a bad light upon all of you, and might cause the mortals to turn upon the blood-drinkers and shape-shifters again. Peace delaminates all too easily, like a billet of my folded steel shattering. Security is hunting the rogue; but once they must issue warnings to all so they may be careful, all vampires will be suspect. One cannot leave the people in the dark about a danger hanging over them; but that will spawn those that take the law in their own hands."

"Perhaps it would be best if me and mine stayed out of Milliways for a while," he muses.

"You will have to decide that," Teja says, "but my advice would be not to."

Long pause.

"In this place, I have learned that I may stand up for what I am, how I am made by nature, and what I feel, instead of killing such feelings within me as not proper, and hiding them if I had them. I do believe that a blood-drink or a shape-shifters may be himself as proudly as a lover of men can be."

Asher nods. "A point well-made," he concedes. "And yet still, a low profile may be an idea." He looks at his mug and sighs, covering the picture with his hand.
