Alyx enters the Bar from the garage elevator, with Skitch rolling and D0G KATHUNKing at her heels. She walks up to the Bar and sets a handwritten note on the countertop without a word.

"If I didn't know those two better," says an awfully familiar voice from off to the left, "I'd imagine they were arguing philosophy or something."

Alyx chuckles. "I'm pretty sure D0G doesn't know Morse Code yet, Skitch."

"You do that."

"No idea what he just said," says Gordon, "unless it was an offer to teach him."

"Got it in one."

"Lucky guess," Gordon says. "At least it'll give them something to do while we're away."

D0G turns toward Alyx sharply. Weeoop?

"D0G, we've been through this," says Alyx gently. "We're going home and you stay here and take care of Skitch."

"We won't be long, D0G," Gordon says. "We promise."

After a moment's consideration- he and Alyx had something of a conversation the other night- he adds, "Don't worry. I'll take care of her just as well as you would."

Mwrr... says D0G, mollified for now.

"And we'll see if we can't bring you back your ball, too," says Gordon. "Or something, anyway."

"We'd have to make him a new one, unless you feel like going back to Black Mesa East and salvaging it out of the rubble," points out Alyx.

[acts_of_gord]

"New one it is, then," Gordon says. "There's bound to be some appropriate scrap materiel lying around somewhere."

Alyx nods. "We'll figure something out. And sometime we've got to take you home to meet PIaDOS..."

"It shouldn't be long, regardless," Gordon says. "Just until Chell and Shephard are ready."

"And then we get to try to situate a hundred and fifty relocated residents of City 08, most of whom are civilians," says Alyx dryly. "Joy and rapture."

"I remember seeing footage of a disaster evacuation on the news once," says Gordon. "Do we even have a space to put them all? We might have to give them spaces in the hangar and blankets to lie on, if they don't have their own."

"We could see if the bunks on the Borealis are still in decent shape..." muses Alyx.
