It's been a long cycle. Bob spent most of it alternating between trying to get Mairi to eat solid foods and trying to keep her from chewing on things she shouldn't be. He half-walks, half-staggers into Milliways with the intent of getting a drink before going to bed

"Maybe you're supposed to have a portable heat source, and melt it into place wherever you happen to need a pulley?" offers a boy in green.

"I guess... why a chicken, though?"

Felix considers this for a bit. "Perhaps to identify it? Or maybe the makers thought it would be funny?"

"Or just had too much time on their hands."

"That could be. I've heard of people doing stranger things."

Bob frowns at the little boy in green. "Have we met?"

Felix considers. "I don't think so. I'm Felix."

"I'm Bob." He offers a hand to shake. "Have you been coming here long?"

[venusadept_2]

It takes a few moments for Felix to remember what to do with Bob's hand. His is a world without handshakes.

"A few months, local time; something like a year at home."

[mend_and_defend]

"I've been coming here for about... three years, local time." (In fact, it's been exactly three years, to the day, but Bob doesn't know that.)
