Dean keeps on smirking.

"What, I'm not allowed to sit anymore? Jesus."

"Sure, you can sit."

Sam glares at him and points at a table across the room.

"How about over there?"

[hopeitsworthit]

"Sammy Winchester," Dean says, shaking his head. "Still afraid of cooties. Whatever."

He drops his feet to the floor, knocking into a couple more books as he stands up.

It's the principle of the thing. Or -- something.

"Don't bother keeping the seat warm for me."

Beer sounds really damn good right now. And maybe cheese fries.

Or nachos. Or both.

"Don't worry, I won't," he snaps, reaching for the books and looking them over for damage.

Two seconds later he yells after Dean,

"... by the way, don't think I'm not keeping track of how much of my money you're spending!"

"Wouldn't dream of it, bitch," Dean calls back, falsely cheerful.

And his order at the bar -- a beer, an apple juice, a plate of nachos and a big platter of cheese fries -- comes accompanied by a note. And a picture.

He's got both in hand on his way back to the table. With the food.

"Not everyone can be as kickass as me, Sam. Don't worry."

Half the smug is due to the apple juice Dean drops in front of his brother.

The other half is because a nine or ten year old girl thinks he's awesome.

Someone here is damn easy to please.

"You really are a jerk, you know that? And a slob, too."

He ignores the apple juice in favor of sweeping the books as far away from the dripping cheese fries.

In the process, he snags the picture.

"What's this?"

"Better'n being a neat freak. Those chemicals are gonna kill all your braincells, someday, man."

He makes sure to gesture with the cheese fries before shoveling some into his mouth.

It's all Sam deserves.

"And that, college boy, is a picture from a kid who is smart enough to appreciate how awesome I am."

Totally awesome. Totally.

"Not like you're gonna be around to see it, after poisoning yourself with the crap you eat."

Sam glances down at the picture, then sets it aside and reaches for the note.

"... I don't know, dude. I think she shoulda stuck with the skirt look for you."

Dean opens his mouth to bitch at Sam about food choices and dumbass moves when it comes to eating stuff that tastes good, when --

"You're just jealous I don't have goddamn chicken legs."

On second thought, maybe he should have sat on that for a little bit longer before spitting it out.

Uh.

".... chicken legs? I don't have chicken legs!"

Beat.

Beat.

Beat.

"What the hell are you doing looking at my legs, anyway?"

"Dude, don't even try that deflection bullshit."

If Sammy isn't careful he's gonna start embarrassing himself.

Dean's not gonna stop him.

"I'm totally more badass."

And as if to punctuate that he scoops up some nachos and chows down.

Sam looks at the note again, then drops it on the table right next to Dean's plate.

If he's not careful, it'll get ruined.

"She's kinda young for you, isn't she?"

"Dude, that's sick."

What the hell?

"Just checking."

Sam shakes his head and reaches for another book.

"How do I even know you?"

He eats some more fries. Messily.
