Quite some time ago, a young woman with a phlegmatic gray horse in tow wandered into a celestial realm full of barbarians and the Great Buddha Victorious in Strife. Nothing of the sort has happened since, and she has been quite happy with that; celestial realms make everyday life awfully difficult. Especially when... well.
Even when one comes from a family with a distinguished military record on par with the Hua patriarch's, if one is a girl one simply cannot walk into an army camp and be accepted as anything other than somebody's mistress- at best. Which is why the Hua child who walked into the Imperial recruiting camp six weeks ago with a phlegmatic gray horse in tow gave his name as Hua Zhong Er, and has yet to undress or conduct certain other activities in the presence of his fellow soldiers. Not that most of them care, and those who do are mostly convinced that the boy had a tragic accident involving being gored by a pig, but there is no sense in taking chances.
Even when said boy discovers, to his chagrin, that the tent in which he was supposed to be doing armor maintenance is apparently a celestial realm full of barbarians all over again.
