*He doesn't react openly to the baleful look at the bar, except a bit of amusement showing in his eyes. He's not sure if it's caused by the newly working magic or by the colorful mug in Roland's hand.*
*Instead, he nods.*
Sure.
*He gestures to a free table, eyebrows raised slightly in invitation.*
Roland nods. "Then...we were speaking of Arithon, I believe, and whether or not he will be punished, and how." His gaze is sharp. "It troubles me that one who can do such a thing as he did to her is loose in the bar. The Lady Moiraine can defend herself from attacks of a magical nature, but she apparently couldn't defend herself from this. That doesn't bode well for those of us who have only a gun and our wits."
*Will blows out a breath, regarding the table soberly.*
I understand.
*His eyes slide up to meet Roland's.*
For whatever it is worth, I can tell you that I think he is a good man, at the heart of him, and that it is not something he would have done if he did not feel he had to. I think he misjudged, and did wrong, but... He did not do it lightly.
But that is not exactly the root of what you are saying, of course.
Roland shakes his head. "No. It's not. And...if you have the opportunity to say so -- " Because I'm not speaking to the Dream-lord if I can help it, his face says, or maybe Because I'm not touching this one with a ten-foot pole -- "you might bring this up to whoever does decide his punishment."
*Moiraine sees Will and Roland together. (The Wheel weaves, perhaps. Or perhaps it is ka. In any case, the Aes Sedai hesitates, then approaches their table with a serene smile of greeting.*
"Lady-sai. Long days and pleasant nights." Roland looks up, not smiling...but his face relaxes, some. He extends his right hand to an empty chair. "Would you join us?"
"Long days and pleasant nights, Will."

And because the formalities must be observed: "Would you have anything to eat or drink before we continue?"

*If he has the opportunity, if a conversation turns that way, he will pass on Roland's worries as one of the many sides of this.*

I hope that I have not disturbed your conversation?
