Considering what's up at home right now, Lissar is taking a few precious moments to rest. Things are undoubtedly going to get bad back home. That's...not fine. But she can handle it because she needs to handle it because someone must handle it.

She will not allow herself to worry about her family. Not until things get bad instead of the threat ( Read more... )

Donovan is wearing flip-flops. Black, with webbed feet printed on.

"Morning," he says, wondering idly whether the white, pretty young woman might be a swanmane from somewhere else he doesn't know.

"Good morning." Lissar says in return in the low, deep voice of someone who talks more than they used to...but still prefers to let others speak.

She does have an air of prey to her, that will never leave, but the deer from which she once took her name is a better fit than a swan.

Her movements are graceful, unconsciously regal, and her gaze is straight and clear. He is pale, and male, but she doesn't need to fear so much any more.

There are no were-deer in Donovan's world, so he does not think of that; the animal connection is much more literal to him, coming from a world of shifters as he does.

But maybe, she can feel that sense of prey about him, too?

"I haven't seen you here before," Donovan says aloud.

Her prey feeling is more that of a survivor of certain forms of violence, she's not attuned to the supernatural in any way, shape, or form. So only in that he has any kind of human levels of prey would she be able to identify a kindred spirit.

"A matter of timing, I assure you. I am Lissla Lissar, called Lisa, now of the Autobots. I have been here off and on for, oh, more than two years as this place counts time."

She does not offer her hands, even with the gloves she saves the mental effort it takes to reach out to another biologic creature for those times when her people, her family, requires her to be a public and diplomatic face.

Donovan doesn't, either; shaking hands feels a bit formal in this place, which for him is essentially a long, unexpected and very welcome vacation.

Complete with tropical beach.

"I'm Donovan," he says. "Donovan Reece. I've been here for a few weeks only, but all the time. I'm stuck here. I think the technical term is Bound. Not that I mind. I couldn't imagine a better place to be stuck in."

"A pleasure to meet you, Donovan. I can, but only because that is the world I have chosen for my own." her smile is wide, bright, and unexpected. Even Lissar knows that she doesn't smile very often; her good humor is generally limited to the faint curving of lips rather than a wide smile. "I have never been Bound here by anything except my own fears; but I thank them for having existed. This place has been good to me."

"I heard about people moving to other worlds from here," Donovan says. "I think I won't. I've got people that need me. But if I go back to where I came from anyway, I can just as well enjoy the holiday."

"Oh, we shall return to my world some day; my beloved and I. Just not until he is ready to pick up the duties which will be his due to our relationship." Ironhide's reaction still amuses the hell out of her. Poor old mech.

Duties? Perhaps she is really a Swan Queen from another country or, more likely, another time?

"Duties?" Donovan asks. "Ah yes, do I ever know duties!"

"Each in our own ways we have duties; my poor Ironhide never thought to be king of anything, let alone a raggle tag backwater of a pre-industrial biologic-populated kingdom." she's not a queen, not yet. Her father needs to be...disposed of, first.

She will not mourn him.

"Are your duties onerous to you? My Ironhide simply has no understanding of them as yet."

"More stressful than onerous," Donovan says. "I'm king of some raggle tag shape-shifters living scattered among the much larger ordinary human population and travel all over the country to help them deal with their affairs and problems."

"Ah. You do not seem a wolf." werewolves are the only shifters she has known personally. Well. Werewolves and a certain Cheetah who becomes a bird now and then. "It would, I suppose, give you very little time to yourself."

"I'm not a wolf," Donovan says. "I'm a swan."

So she definitely is not.-

"And yes, very little time. I was born to that job, so I have to do it. Nobody asked me if I wanted to, but that's the way with that sort of duties."

"I have known a Jay." she offers, "But mostly she is Cheetah. My dear friend is under a curse in that where she walks, chaos follows. I, too, was born to a position that. Did not suit." the final three words are stated with a cool, crisp gravity that makes them both filled with bitter anger and closes them off to in-depth questions, "My father's plans were past wicked and into evil. Ironhide will be a better king. If for no other reason than that he will outlive the rest of us."

"Nobody meant anything evil towards me," Donovan says. "It's just a lot of work, especially as I'm alone, and don't have a Swan Queen. Normally, one is born in the same generation as a Swan King. I'd quite like to find a girlfriend or wife on my own, actually, instead of having one assigned to me. Downside is, I have so much work, every self-respecting woman loses patience with me sooner or later."

"I have found that it takes a certain temperament to be a soldier's wife, and a king who works to protect his own is a form of soldier, which many do not possess. I had to learn first to cleave unto Ironhide, and nearly instantly to let him go with knowledge that many times he will leave me and come back battle scarred and dented with his paint ruined and his wiring shot.

"Perhaps looking for a woman and painting yourself thus; as one who must always balance duty with love, you will find one who would journey with you and take up what of her burden she might."
