Knox is reading the day's newspapers (the day being October 10, 1992). The lead in every paper is the rather contentious debate last night between Pres. Bush, Governor Eden and Ross Perot that devolved into something Knox considers worthy of a Gotham Town Council meeting. He shouldn't find it funny, but if you can't laugh at the three men running for president, what can you laugh at?
He thumbs through the paper, reading about the baseball playoff game between Atlanta and Keystone City, a terrible car wreck at a racetrack near Midway City, and a report that a meteorite hit a house fifteen miles north of Metropolis. No Batman news today, but some days are just slow that way.
