Something about that robot sitting there was familiar. With slightly pursed lips - lips that were settled at the rim of a glass of orange juice - he considered.
The appearance wasn't identical, he realised after a few moments, and that was what had thrown him off. Not to mention the size. His lips twitched into a smile as he approached and rather casually sat across the table from him.
"Hello," the human-shaped AI greeted. His hair was to his hips and caught up in a braid, his eyes a vivid red. His suit was impeccably pressed and sat on him as if it were tailored. "I believe that it may be time the two of us met."
Optimus grasps the hand. Experience has taught him how to give a firm handshake without crushing human hands into a slurry.
"Really. That's an interesting coincidence." He glances at the man briefly. "Is the world you come from unexpectedly advanced? Your form appears to be a bit more advanced than most we've seen on the Earth we live on, unless you're using holograms... no, no, your hand feels like flesh."
Optimus chuckles. "Sorry. I've become something of a student of humanity since we came to Earth, so that I can understand how to live amongst them."
"It would be interesting, but at the same time I don't want to disturb anyone. I've been dealing with the bane of all organizations, paperwork and bureaucracy, and my goal is to relax and not make anyone do anything they'd rather not do, or have to take real effort for. Bumblebee refers to it as 'slacking off'." There's a warm tone of humor in his voice, even if he lacks the expressions to make it clear.
"I've had a few of those myself, the transformations. I was a stuffed animal, and a human, and a gorilla, all at different times."
"I really don't either. We've just had four more of us find their way to Earth. There's the paperwork for them, arranging the proper identifications, insuring that they didn't bring some 'space virus' with them, getting them acclimated to Earth, accomodations, and all the things one has to do as a head-of-state in exile." He shakes his head. "I suppose it could be worse, after all. But that's why I came here. Time doesn't quite move back there when I'm here - a few seconds, that's all - and I can relax here, then go back and pick up where I left off."
Kitt nodded. "My door doesn't open here all that often anymore - and it's just as well, truly. I said earlier I was one of three functioning Knight AIs - that's something of an understatement. There is myself, my three brothers, two of which are universal duplicates in a way, and then there is my newly-found nephew, Michael's newly-discovered son, and my newly-adopted son... And it goes further. I've been trying to offer some acclimation to them all - out of all of them, I've been around humanity the longest.
"It seems our situations parallel, odd as it may seem."
Optimus nods. "It does seem that way. Interesting parallels." He takes a sip of the scotch; a small puff of white comes from the stacks on his back.
"We're associated with the United States government, functioning as a sort of government-in-exile, since returning to our homeworld is not very much of an option now. There's also the possibilities of our enemies returning, and if we left the planet undefended, they would not hesitate to scour it clean of all life."
Kitt nodded slowly, thoughtfully. "Mm. And that would be a problem FLAG would be glad to work alongside you to solve - but I have a feeling that if FLAG and Knight Industries existed in your universe, they would already be involved." He paused. "You refer to the Decepticons, correct?"

And yes. It's that voice.
"Why is it time we met?"
