It's a fairly wet and cursing Munch who strolls through the Door this evening. Anyone glancing out his Door as it closes may see the source of his annoyance - a fairly decent thunderstorm.

At least it doubles as Happy Hour inspiration...

River slips into a bar stool, casting an eye over her fellow patrons before giving the barkeep a warm smile.

"Pint of Guinness if you please."

She lays down the comm pad, her perpetual companion these passed few days, and starts thumbing through the crime scene photos, frowning and taking notes in the margin.

"Coming right up." Munch grabs the appropriate-sized glass.

His curiosity is piqued when he catches a glimpse of her photos out of the corner of his eye. He may not recognize the environment or the vic, but he knows a crime scene when he sees one.

"New case?"

She glances up sharply. He speaks like a man who knows whereof he speaks. "Have you heard about the young man they discovered in the woods?"

"'Fraid not. My visits have been pretty sparse lately.

"What happened?"

"Well," she sighs, not quite sure where to begin. "There's the note from Security," she points up to the notice board.

"And then the Security Office has quite an extensive list of notes and suspects. I'm a researcher by trade, and I think I may have bitten off more than I can chew."

Munch checks the notice board- and curses.

"What are you looking for?" he asks, turning back to her. "Maybe I can help."

"Well, simply put, the killer." She holds out her hand in greeting. "Dr. River Song, archaeologist. 52nd century, Outer Reaches."

She slides the comm pad with the photographs and the autopsy report across the bar.

"Detective John Munch, NYPD, Special Victims. 2009." Munch takes her offered hand.

During his career both in Homicide and SVU, Munch has seen quite a bit that could turn his stomach. But this?

Let's just say Munch is glad that he hasn't had anything to eat since lunch.

"You're a detective? Oh that's brilliant. I know it's bad." She indicates the crime scene. "Impossible to determine which injury was the actual cause of death, from the notes I've read. I've been having to crib notes from a Death Investigator's Handbook. And security, well -- they're an amorphous entity at best. They've been trying to put together a victim profile, but all that's really apparent is that he was a right git."

"So they're figuring on revenge or just annoyance as a possible motive?" Munch hypothesizes.

He reads further on.

"...a cupcake?"

"Yes, that. I can not even begin to comprehend what on earth that might mean. Just -- strange."

"Apparently he did not have many friends at all, but this level of violence -- well, forgive me for saying it, but it seems like overkill for someone who was simply a rude bugger."

"No problem; I was thinking the exact same thing."

He looks at a couple of the photographs before going back to the report. The post-mortem animal bites sound like they were probably caused by the local demon bunnies; a couple probably spied the body and thought they could get a quick snack or something. But the missing internal organs are another story.

"Do you guys have a suspect list yet?"

"Oh yes." She leans over to touch the screen of the comm pad, pulling up the list of names for him.

"Yes in fact, I hope they narrow it down soon because right now, you can't spit in the bar without hitting someone they consider a suspect."

Munch scans the list, and nods when his gaze lands on two very familiar names.

"These two" he points to Croup and Vandemar "might be good to focus on. I wouldn't be surprised if they were at least responsible for the vic's missing liver and kidneys. From what I've learned from my encounters with them they're...rather fond of cannibalism."

"Duly noted. Though, in this crowd, what with the gods, demons, werewolves, vampires, et cetera, et cetera, I doubt that's what killed him. Opportunistic cannibalism isn't really that much of a concern, I should think. Hell, I wouldn't put it passed the rabbits to help themselves to the choice bits."

Mmm, liver. River takes a sip from her pint to cover the fact that her mouth may be watering a little now.

Munch nods. "At least part of this sounds like a few parties took advantage of the dead body rather than reporting it to Security."
