[Note: Tavi is reset and is eleven. If you want your pup who knew Tavi before to recognize him or his name, go ahead; he just won't know you. But he likes new friends.]

[ Sorry, Uncle Bernard...]

The door slams open and then shut again, as a boy dressed in Roman peasant's clothes collapses against it in a fit of laughter.  He has a wealth of dark ( Read more... )

Leaning against the Door might not be the greatest idea, because other people sometimes open it. Like just now. Whoopsie.

Tavi scrambles off of Enzo and holds out a hand, not noticing the strange coloring yet (although the strange clothing is immediately apparent).

"I'm sorry about that. I wasn't expecting there to be... well, a place like this. Or anyone there."

"No problem," grunts Enzo, clasping Tavi's hand for leverage as he picks himself up. "You're a newbie? This is Milliways."

Tavi blinks as he pulls Enzo up. He doesn't feel human--and he doesn't look it, either, beyond the shape.

"...Milliways?" he says a little blankly, eyes wide. The boy is green. It's a green boy of some bizarre material.

"It's the Bar at the End of the Universe. Don't expect it to make sense," he advises. "It'll be easier that way."

Tavi's just kind of busy staring at Enzo for the moment. Things aren't processing well.

"...End of the Universe?"

"Yeah. It's a time travel thing. You can see it ending outside the big window, but it repeats over and over. Don't worry, this place doesn't end."

"...Time travel?" Tavi gapes at him. "What are you? And... why are you green?"

"Time-and-space travel. You come from wherever and whenever you're from, and you end up here." He shrugs.

"I'm a sprite. We come in more colours than humans. Do you know computers?"

That just earns more staring.

"N-no?" This is all just bizarre.

"Hmph." Enzo's brow furrows. "I dunno if I can explain what I am, then. I mean, I could, but it'd just confuse you worse."

"You could try?" Tavi offers weakly. He's just lost by this point.

"Okay. But, uh, do you want me to try to explain me first, or Milliways first? 'Cause I can't do both at once."

tavar_of_alera July 24 2009, 07:19:26 UTC
"...Uh. You first." Tavi swallows hard. End of the universe is somehow less daunting than a green person who doesn't feel like a person.

"Okay." He drums his fingers against his thigh as he considers how to start.

"Okay, in some worlds, people use these machines called computers. They're kind of tools for processing information. Like, you can't use them to do things with stuff, like to move things around or cook or make things, but you can use them to do things with words or numbers or pictures. That make sense so far?"

"...not really." Tavi's not used to feeling stupid. Feeling incompetent and worthless, sure--he gets that with the whole furycrafting thing. But stupid? That's new.

"I... I just know farming. And what furycrafting does. I... we don't really have anything like that. Maybe if you showed me...?"

Tavi's the type who--while he wouldn't understand the scientific principles--is more likely to learn technology by experience than explanation.
