All the times before when Joris has arrived at Milliways, he's usually been right in the middle of some sort of fight or other situation. The door here has more than likely saved his life no few times by appearing right as needed- even if he never looked for it ( Read more... )

There's a girl with her auburn hair tied up in a bandanna, bringing a large tray of freshly-baked and exceedingly fragrant cinnamon rolls out into the bar. The timing is such that she catches the last of his bemused statement.

"What're both red?"

"The color things- the pieces of fabric Vanessa was looking at." Joris rolls his eyes, then looks over at Rae.

"She asked me which color I thought was nicer, but..." He shrugs, still looking baffled.

"Then she started going on about how they were different, with Elsa asking if I couldn't tell they were different."

The tray, smelling strongly of home-made dough, roasted walnuts, cinnamon and warm, gooey icing, is set down.

The girl's look is quizzical.

Then it clears. "A red wedding dress?" She remembers the fiasco the last time one of the coffeehouse's waitresses got married.

The cake, at least, had been phenomenal, Sunshine is proud to say.

Joris blinks, and then nods. "I guess it isn't traditional in her world? But it is for the Khans, and she said she's fine with that- or else she wouldn't be marrying Konstam. But now she's going over what sort of color red she wants, and-" He tosses his hands up.

"Even worse, she has Elsa with her and she's getting all- all crazy about this too!"

And of course, in order to escape from Vanessa, Joris is missing out on lunch, back home. He's trying to not eye the cinnamin rolls. Really.

"Weddings tend to be crazy," says the baker with no real plans of ever marrying her long-time boyfriend.

It might happen, but either she or Mel would have to drastically change their lives for it to be possible.

Joris might find it increasingly hard to keep from eyeing the cinnamon rolls, since one of the Big-As-Your-Head desserts is being offered to him on a plate, icing still running thick over it.

He was eyeing her food. It must mean he wants to eat it. And if he wants to eat Sunshine's food, he has automatically gotten on her good side.

He's never heard any of the horror stories about free food here at Milliways.

Considering 1)Rae isn't evil, nor is her food, and 2) he's a young teenager currently missing lunch-

This is a very good thing.

Even still, Joris has enough manners to glance back to Rae. "-You're sure?"

"No, I was offering you this to taunt you," she says, dry, handing him the plate with its warm, sticky roll on it.

And a handful of napkins, because Rae is kind like that, and knows the effects her cooking has on people.

"-I didn't think you were a waitress, since I've never seen any around here, and even so, most waitresses wouldn't just be handing things out to people randomly."

Thus is Joris' logic, but he also isn't arguing against free food-

Specially against something that looks and smells as good as the cinnamin roll.

"This is probably better than anything they're serving for lunch at the school, though." He gives Rae a grin, before taking the plate. "Thank you."

"No problem," she grins. "And no, I'm not a waitress here. But I am the Head Baker for Charlie's Coffeehouse back home. Going on eight or nine years now."

"Are you Charlie, then?"

He's come across odder names, even in his own world.

Rae chuckles. "No, Charlie's my stepfather. He's the owner and manager of the coffeehouse. I'm just the queen of the bakery."

"I'm Rae, Rae Seddon."

Somehow, he manages a bow (more martial arts style then anything 'courtly') even while still holding onto the plate.

"My name's Joris- it's nice to meet you, then."

Specially if she bakes- but even if she didn't. Joris is usually a friendly sort, just as long as Rae isn't planning a wedding any time soon.
