"Are you new?"

Sparrow can tell. It's the complete surprise that does it.

"Brand spanking."

The narration suggests not getting any bright ideas.

But Sparrow loves bright ideas!

"You're at a bar at the end of time, the universe is exploding outside that window, time has frozen back home for you."

Best to do it quickly.

"Ow."

He's suddenly wondering if this is what a Circle-K icee brain freeze is supposed to feel like.

Solemnly: "This place also reveres pretty people and the already slightly unhinged. Those who are hinged get unhinged fairly quickly."

Merlin is not pretty, he's manly and handsome. There's a difference.

Dryly: "Guess I should look forward to my unhinging, then."

[fourth_hero]

Sparrow was using it as a general catch-all term for attractiveness.

"You should. Best to get started as soon as possible - what do you want to drink? Anything very alcoholic is discouraged, because then you have to do the whole shock thing again when you don't remember anything."

"Irish coffee." It's coffee, but with alcohol. Which kind of satisfies most of his urges right now.

"Two Irish coffees," Sparrow says to a passing waitrat. It scurries off, returning a moment later with a precariously balanced tray.

Sparrow takes his, sipping.

Eventually: "Huh. Alcoholic coffee."

Merlin's back to staring at the rat, so it may take a minute or two before he remembers about the drink. And then there's the whole thing about magical bars. "A favorite of mine."

Beat.

"What's that?"

Someone just spotted the Window.

[fourth_hero]

"Oh, that's just the window I mentioned where you can see the universe exploding," casually.

Merlin was apparently not paying close enough attention beforehand.

... That's pretty nifty.

"Whoah."

It's a fairly good Keanu impression, if you're up on that sort of thing.

Sparrow's not. His world has neither television nor Keanu.

"Usual reaction."

"At least I don't stand out."

He peers.

"What's holding it back?"

"Nobody really knows."
